The City of Chowchilla Facebook social media site is intended to serve as a vehicle for communication between the public and the City of Chowchilla. The City web site at www.CityOfChowchilla.org shall be the City’s primary and predominant Internet presence. Therefore, content posted on the City Facebook site shall contain hyperlinks to direct users to the official City web site. This site is manag
ed consistent with the State of California Brown Act and any comments submitted to this page are public records subject to disclosure under California and federal law. All public records requests should be directed to the office of the Chowchilla City Clerk. This site is used to post content that shall pertain only to City-sponsored or City-endorsed programs, services and events deemed of value to the community. In accordance with regulations the site is not provided as a place of social discourse on topics not generated by the City of Chowchilla. The use of this site shall comply with the City's approved Social Media Policy. City officials and personnel are required to comply with the approved City Social Media Policy. City representatives shall refrain from responding to any published postings, or from using the site to respond to, blog, engage in serial meetings, or otherwise discuss, deliberate, or express opinions on any issue within the subject matter jurisdiction of the body. The City reserves the right to implement or remove any functionality of its social media sites, when deemed appropriate by the City. This includes, but is not limited to, information, articles, photographs, graphics, videos, or any other form of communication that can be posted on a City social media site. Postings to City social media sites shall NOT contain any of the following:
1. Comments not topically related to the particular posting being commented upon;
2. Comments in support of, or in opposition to, political campaigns, candidates, or ballot measures;
3. Sexual content or links to sexual content;
5. Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, as well as any other category protected by federal, state, or local laws.
6. Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;
8. Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems;
9. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party;
10. Content that encourages alcohol consumption or the use of legal/illegal drugs; and
11. Content that violates another person's right to privacy. Any content removed based on the listed guidelines must be retained, including the time, date, and identity of the poster, when available. The City reserves the right to restrict or remove any inappropriate content that is deemed to be in violation of this social media policy or any applicable laws. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the City is not obligated to take such actions and the City disclaims any and all responsibility and liability for any materials that the City of Chowchilla deems inappropriate for posting, which cannot be removed in an expeditious and otherwise timely manner. A comment posted by a member of the public is the opinion of the commentator or poster only, and the publication of a comment does not imply endorsement of, or agreement by, the City, nor do comments necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of the City.
