Last year, The Chrisman Page Turners book club read 'Remarkably Bright Creatures'. It turned out to be one of the club's favorite books. We were excited when we found out that Netflix was adapting the book into a movie and tossed around the idea of having a book club movie night when it was released. Last night, our Katie welcomed us to her home where we all enjoyed an evening under the stars, watching the movie outdoors. There were delicious (and themed) snacks, tasty beverages, and great company. The only downside was that it also marked the last book club event that one of our members would be attending, as he is moving 2 1/2 hours away ☹️. It's so rude of him to leave us 😂. Just kidding, Jamie! We wish you nothing but success and new adventures.
We really do have the best book club!

It's the start of the growing season. Talk to the library about a bed this year. Some already planted, others will need to be spruced up. But that's coming.

Even from those first, simple stories, books can open up new worlds! Read to your children and be patient while they learn to read to you. It's magical!

We love to hear about the books our patrons are reading! Is it a book you would recommend, and why or why not?

This week, our Story Time guest reader was Lori. She read "The Very Impatient Caterpillar" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". After reading the books, the kids made their own caterpillars that inch along the leaf! Thank you to Lori and to the children that attended!

We have Library Board positions open. If you live or own property within the city limits of Chrisman, we need you!

The Board meets just one evening per month, so this will not require a large amount of your time. However, you do need to be committed to attending these meetings.

The Board reviews finances, library reports, state requirements and reports, fundraisers, etc. Our main goal is to assist our librarians and help our library thrive and continue to be the wonderful asset that they are to our community.

Currently, we have 3 main fundraisers per year. Additional fundraisers are planned from time to time. Board members must be willing and able to help plan, organize, and work at these fundraisers. We do have volunteers that offer to help with these, but it is ultimately the Board's responsibility to make sure all tasks are covered. The 3 annual fundraisers have been in place for several years and therefore, run quite smoothly. Board members will be responsible for planning the work schedule so that they have all hours of these fundraisers covered.

Please feel free to contact any board member with questions or to let them know you are interested in helping by serving on our Board. If unable to contact a board member, you may message us on Facebook.
