Christiansburg and Casstown Fire members trained Tuesday evening on the RIT Packs. Firefighters discussed and worked together to practice all the different techniques on how to get a downed firefighter some needed air using the RIT Pack and their own air pack and get them everyone to safety. A great training where everyone works together to practice skills that can save a firefighter.

Christiansburg Chief Trent Zerkle presented new member Atley Zerkle, his son, with his Probationary Member shield at the meeting Sunday. He has been a member of our Junior Fire Co since 2021. He also joins his maternal great grandfathers Sam Sullenberger and Melvin Littlejohn who also were original members in 1948 and his maternal grandfather, Mike Sullenberger who joined in 1969. We want to welcome Atley to the Christiansburg Fire Company.

The Christiansburg Fire Co. was able to donate a few pieces of used equipment to the Clark State Fire School in Springfield. Several departments have donated equipment to Clark State over the years. These donations help our future firefighters learn and train at Clark State to be better prepared. Items we donated were a 36' extension ladder, a gas powered PPV Fan, 3 low level strainers, a few sections of 1 3/4", 2 1/2" and 4" hose and a 2000 gallon dump tank.

The Christiansburg Fire Co. was out today training on the new Turbo Draft and Blitz Force Nozzle we purchased recently through the Small County Grant we received earlier this year. We want to thank Mindy Blackford for the use of her pond and Chief Lee Adams for his help in teaching us how the Turbo Draft works. It was a great training and we learned this will be a valuable addition to our equipment to be able to move water in rural areas.

Early this morning, Christiansburg Fire was called to provide Mutual Aid with Troy Fire on a fully involved house fire. Christiansburg Engine 36 and Tanker 35 responded to assist Casstown Tanker 85 and Fletcher 94 to provide water to the scene. Always great to help our neighbors and work together.
