Friends, family, and surrounding community—we are showing our support for Whitney Willson Bedwell, who has been battling breast cancer. Whitney has been a 911 dispatcher for many years and has been heard on the opposite end of the radio by many. She has been greatly missed at NRV911! We have partnered with Angie’s Custom Creations, and a shirt has been made for people to wear to show their love and support! We love you Whitney!

NRV911 would like to express our sorrow and deepest sympathies to Carroll County Sheriff's Office. This senseless act of violence cost the life of a father, friend, and co-worker who was cherished deeply by many of those around him. Our agency is keeping his partner in our thoughts, who was injured alongside him. When one department grieves, we all grieve.

PSA: BE AWARE OF RISING WATERS ON THE NEW

Appalachian Power is alerting boaters, fishermen, and other recreational users downstream of Claytor and Leesville dams to be prepared for potential changing conditions.

The National Weather Service is forecasting hot temperatures this week, and PJM, the independent regional transmission organization that manages the electric grid in 13 states, has notified APCo that it may need to increase power generation at its hydroelectric plants to maintain the reliability of the regional electric grid if called upon to do so. Current water levels at Claytor Dam will not affect APCo’s ability to generate power.

Below Claytor Dam, water levels could increase up to two feet in a matter of minutes. APCo says water levels below Leesville Dam could increase as much as eight feet over seven hours. Those considering recreating on the rivers should monitor http://ms.spr.ly/6182vrFsa for additional information.

APCo says current water levels at Smith Mountain Project and Claytor Dam will not affect their ability to generate power.

Located on the New River in Pulaski County, the Claytor Dam is operated by APCo. The total installed electric generating capacity of the plant is 76 megawatts.

Be aware! Prepare!

After a week full of celebration last week, when things quiet down, and the fanfare fades..... we thought a sweet treat might really hit the spot.

CTA Consultants, LLC gifted NRV911, Chik-fil-a, but staff here strategically waited for things to die down so that even when the applause fades, they could be reminded how much our headset heroes matter.

Each of our four teams has its own tray of brownies and cookies. These types of gifts mean a lot to us.

To CTA Consultants, LLC—thank you for continuing to recognize the steady, behind-the-scenes work of our telecommunicators.

We felt it. 💛

NPSTW has come to a close.

The decorations have come down.
The thank-yous have gone quiet.
The moment has passed.

But you?
You’re still there.

Answering.
Calming.
Holding the line.

Recognition week may end…but the responsibility never does.

And neither does our respect.
NRV911 Staff and all 911 Professionals, We salute you.
