It was Turtle Day at the Library! We had a great time with the Rend Lake Visitor's Center teaching us about turtles and then helping us to craft our own turtle out of paper plates and construction paper. Along with our usual treat bags we received a very special book about a box turtle to get us started on our book reading contest!

TODAY the fun begins!! YAY!! YAY!!

Parents/guardians - be sure to pick up a READING LOG for each child you are bringing to the Summer Reading Program. Circle the section that applies to that child - the child who can read alone or the child that is being read to. Return the log each week to the Summer Reading Program to see who will win a prize for the most books read/read to (two categories) for that week. A one-time winning per child is allowed.

For our Story Hour craft, to celebrate America's 250 years of Independence, we plan to send thank you cards, signed by the children, to Scott Air Force Base.
If you have anyone locally that is serving in the States or abroad, please stop by the Library and give us their mailing address. We will send a thank you card to them personally.

June 2 is right around the corner! We will begin our Summer Reading program with the Rend Lake Visitors' Center teaching us about TURTLES. Has anyone ever had a pet turtle? What did you name your turtle? Did your turtle ever win a race?!
Be sure to come into the Library to pre-register. The Library will be open from noon to 5:00 P.M., Monday-Thursday.
The Summer Reading program will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays.
It will be soooo much fun! Can't wait to see you at the Library!

Hey, kiddos, look what is coming up in June!! It will be soooooo much fun!! Ask your parent/guardian to register you for the Summer Reading program. If you are not yet a BookCat, ask them to help you get your very own Library Card so you can be a BookCat, too!
