Complacency is the first emergency 🆘

This evening, our department was toned out to a residential house fire as part of a mutual aid response alongside Limestone Volunteer Fire Department & Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department.

We’d like to thank all of the agencies that worked together to bring this incident under control. A special thank you to Limestone Fire Department, Tusculum Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office - TN, and Washington County / Johnson City EMS for your teamwork & support.

We are grateful for the continued partnership between our public safety agencies and appreciate everyone’s dedication to serving our community.

🚨 TORNADO WARNING 🚨

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for portions of Southeastern Greene County and Southwestern Unicoi County until 6:00 PM EDT.

At 5:32 PM, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Greeneville, moving southeast at 25 mph. This storm is showing radar-indicated rotation and has the potential to produce a tornado.

⚠️ If you are in the warning area:

* TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.
* Move to the lowest level of a sturdy building.
* Stay in an interior room, away from windows.
* If you are in a mobile home, vehicle, or outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately.
* Avoid unnecessary travel until the warning has expired.

Areas of concern include Camp Creek, Rocky Fork, and along I-26 between mile markers 48–54.

Please do not call 911 for weather updates unless you have an emergency. Continue to monitor trusted weather sources and enable emergency alerts on your phone.

🚒 Nolichuckey Valley Volunteer Fire Department is monitoring conditions closely. Stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be prepared to act quickly.
