It's almost time for the Chugiak Elementary Read-A-Thon!
Our school Read-A-Thon begins on Monday, March 2, 2026, and is sure to be a fun and exciting event. Be on the lookout for your child's flyer. In addition to the regular prizes offered by Read-A-Thon, students will have a chance to win additional prizes. For every 60 minutes a student reads during the Read-A-Thon, they will earn a ticket and be entered into a drawing where they can win a Squishmallows plush or be a specialist/principal for part of the day!

This year's funds will be used to purchase new student seating for the library.

We understand that your time is valuable. We also know that providing the best education for your child is important. That's why we are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free, and it should take less than 5 minutes of your time.

February Spirit Days.

What an exciting and productive time it has been in our IGNITE classroom with Mrs. Erickson. Our scientists continue to explore their curiosity, creativity, and determination as they tackle each new challenge.

Our Roller Coaster unit was a thrilling success! After designing and building their roller coasters, students created an informational presentation on the physics concepts we studied and applied through our roller coaster construction. Our Roller Coaster Engineers then proudly demonstrated their roller coasters to teachers and peers, showcasing both their engineering skills and their understanding of scientific principles. It was an outstanding demonstration of creativity and teamwork!

President Willow and Vice President Erica proudly presented 49 pairs of glasses to the Lions Club on behalf of the Chugiak Elementary Student Council. These frames and lenses will help students in need see clearly and succeed in school.

💓 Fun in Health Class!

This week, Mrs. Senn’s health class gave Mrs. Ford’s second graders a hands-on lesson about the heart. Students learned how blood moves through the heart and even listened to their own hearts with stethoscopes!

They also did an art perspective activity to explore the idea that we have two kinds of hearts, one for being kind to ourselves, and one for having a big heart for others. It sparked a great discussion about perspective and thinking about others.

This special evening is all about inspiring curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. Join us for hands-on fun with interactive booths and projects led by members of our amazing scientific community.
