Today, we honor the women of CVPD who protect our community, lead with courage, serve with integrity and inspire future generations. 💙

Women currently represent nearly 20% of our sworn officers. Serving in one of the most demanding professions takes courage, resilience and determination—and we are proud of the exceptional women who answer that call every day.

As part of Prop 64 grant funding, we are continuing our efforts to educate the community about the risks associated with juvenile cannabis use.

The 2025 San Diego County Cannabis Public Health Initiative Report highlights several concerning local trends:

• Cannabis exposure calls increased 128%, from 88 calls in 2016 to 201 calls in 2024.

• Among a 2024 sample of 41 juveniles arrested and booked into San Diego County detention facilities, 93% reported having tried ma*****na and 73% reported using it within the past 30 days.

• Among those interviewed, 60% reported va**ng at school and 43% said va**ng had made them sick.

These findings reinforce the importance of prevention, education, and early conversations about the risks cannabis can pose to young people.

Now that students are back in school and families are settling into their routines, don’t let vehicle security fall off your daily checklist.

🔒 Lock your vehicle and take your keys.
🎒 Keep backpacks, electronics, and other belongings out of sight.
🚗 Never leave your vehicle running unattended—even during a quick drop-off.
💡 Park in a well-lit, visible area whenever possible.
📞 Report suspicious activity to CVPD.

A few simple habits can help protect your vehicle throughout the school year.
