Chula Vista firefighters are pictured here assisting with the extrication of an injured Hot Shot who was hit by a rolling boulder. The Chula Vista REMs (Rapid Extrication Module) team is highly trained in technical rescue and extrication in difficult terrain. This is one of two teams currently deployed to the Hirz fire near Redding CA, and the second at the Monument Fire in Montana.

July 7th, 2018 USAR-53 firefighters were dispatched to the Valley Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest as a REMS team, which is a rapid extrication module. These modules are put in place to help evacuate an injured firefighter while on the fire line at large brush fires.

US&R53, Truck 51, Engine 55, Battalion 51, and the Chula Vista Chula Vista Firefighter's Foundation were honored to have fun with Alexis and her friends and family. She's been battling cancer for several years- and now she has her new friends from Chula Vista Fire in her corner. Keep up the fight Warrior Princess!

HUGE thanks to the Chula Vista Fire Department for arranging a SURPRISE visit to Alexis and her family, and additional thanks to all her Girl Scout sisters and her family who came to show support this evening!
When CVFD heard why Alexis and Angelina were not able to attend Sunday's Field Trip, they hatched a secret plan...to gather her Girl Scout friends and her family, and make a SUPRISE visit! If you can't go on the Field Trip, they'll bring the Field Trip to YOU!!!
Three rigs rolled up with lights and sirens and lots of SURPRISES, including t-shirts, hats, gifts, and best of all a RIDE on the Fire Truck!!!
Alexis got to ride up front, and even the LEADERS got to ride around the block!!!
What a wonderful surprise!!!
Chula Vista Firefighters are the BEST!!!!!
And we LOOOOOOVE Cpt. Trevor!!!
