Nonprofit organization looking to bring Autism families together! Capital Keys Autism Families, Inc is a nonprofit organization that was established by founder Tony Tinervia. Tony was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at the age of 58, and learned in a book by Temple Grandin titled Thinking In Pictures, that people with Autism can be ‘’creative and invent things’. With that in mind, he did just t
hat. Tony saw that inventive characteristic within himself and realized he had been inventing and creating for as long as he could remember. One invention that stood out the most to him was the board games he had been inventing since high school. He would create them specifically for his own enjoyment to play alone but, after reading Grandin’s book, he knew that it was time to share his board game idea with the world. He brought his 1991 idea to life for Autism families and developed the board game titled, Keys To The Capital. Tony understands first hand what it is like growing up with Autism which is why he created Keys To The Capital. He didn’t want children to feel that same loneliness he felt growing up. He wanted to make sure that no autistic child had to feel that same emptiness he felt and decided to create this game so that families could come together and help children realize people really do care about them. Through donations and monthly memberships, Tony is able to fund the mission of spreading joy to Autism Families.
