The Loma Verde Recreation Center, located at 1420 Loma Lane, is among the busiest recreation centers in the southwestern area of Chula Vista and needs many improvements.
In July 2020, City staff held a virtual public workshop with residents and community groups to share the Center’s schematic design. With input from the community, the design team has continued to develop the design and will share it with the community and stakeholders via a virtual meeting to take place on Monday, November 30, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Residents and stakeholders are invited to participate in the virtual meeting to learn about the design. The virtual meeting link, via Cisco Webex, is available in English, https://chulavistaca.webex.com/chulavistaca/onstage/g.php?MTID=efe375fc78c4fb0b5e5b4327a8cba7026, and Spanish, https://chulavistaca.webex.com/chulavistaca/onstage/g.php?MTID=e254b41adb5c3e12dc27bb542ebacdfd4. Participants may join 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. Registration is not required, however, an email address is needed to join the meeting. It is recommended to download Cisco Webex in advance on your smartphone, computer or tablet. There will be an opportunity for questions and comments during and after the virtual meeting.
The design includes a new multi-purpose room/gymnasium, dance room, game room and aquatic changing rooms. The planning effort for this project is funded by Measure P. Funding for its construction has not been fully identified, however, the City continues to seek out grants and other opportunities to construct the project.
