Glue traps are one of the cruelest products still commonly used for pest control. Animals caught don’t die quickly or peacefully — they panic, struggle, tear their own skin and fur, break bones, and can suffer for hours or even days before dying from exhaustion, dehydration, shock, or predation.

This young red squirrel baby, was one of the lucky ones. After being found stuck to a glue trap, I spent hours carefully working to remove the adhesive from her fur and skin. Every movement had to be slow and gentle to avoid causing more pain or injury.

Wildlife like squirrels, birds, snakes, bats, and even pets are often unintended victims of these traps. Glue traps do not discriminate. They are not humane, and they cause unimaginable suffering.

If you have a rodent issue, please consider safer and more humane alternatives such as exclusion methods, sealing entry points, and live trapping when necessary. Compassion matters — even for the smallest lives.

This baby is now recovering safely in rehab, and with time and care, will get another chance at life.

Every animal in rehab deserves more than just food and medical care—they need the chance to be wild again.

Enrichment is a critical part of wildlife rehabilitation. It helps animals build strength, confidence, and the natural behaviors they’ll need to survive once they’re back where they belong. For species like opossums, that means opportunities to explore, climb, forage, and engage with their environment in a safe, controlled way.

This video shows one of our opossums enjoying some outdoor enrichment time—sniffing, exploring, and interacting with the world just as they would in the wild. Moments like this are essential. They reduce stress, prevent boredom, and help ensure that when release day comes, these animals are truly ready.

Rehabilitation isn’t just about saving a life—it’s about preparing that life for freedom.

Wildlife rehabbers are all volunteers, if you want to help, consider joining our transportation team, donating old towels or blankets, animal supplies. Monetary donations are always greatly appreciated, and go directly to the care and enrichment of the wildlife in my care.

This is a community effort and I couldn't do what I do without community support!

Thank you!!

Meet Mario — a 12-year-old, 10-pound sulcata tortoise with a bit of an adventurous streak 🐢

Mario was found wandering in the road on a rainy morning. Thankfully, the Good Samaritan who spotted him knew something wasn’t right. Despite the weather, Mario looked incredibly healthy and was surprisingly social — clear signs he belonged to someone who cared for him.

It didn’t take long to connect the dots and reunite Mario with his very thankful owner. Turns out, the rain inspired a little too much determination… Mario decided to headbutt his way through his enclosure wall and go exploring!

All’s well that ends well, and Mario is safely back home where he belongs.

There is truly never a dull moment in wildlife rehab
