🕊️ DOVE SEASON OPENS SEPTEMBER 1! 🕊️

Dove season is here, Cibolo! Before heading out, the Cibolo Police Department reminds everyone to know the law, know your surroundings, and put safety first.

🎯 KNOW WHERE YOU CAN SHOOT

Hunters should be familiar with Cibolo Code of Ordinances §50-22 and all applicable state laws governing the discharge of weapons.

Under Texas Local Government Code §229.002, a shotgun, air rifle or pistol, BB gun, or bow and arrow may be discharged on a tract of 10 acres or more, provided the shooter is more than 150 feet from a residence or occupied building on another property and the projectile is not reasonably expected to cross the property boundary.

For a centerfire or rimfire rifle or pistol, the requirements are generally 50 acres or more and more than 300 feet from a residence or occupied building on another property, with the same projectile-boundary requirement.

🔊 HEARING GUNSHOTS?

During dove season, residents may hear the sound of gunfire from lawful hunting activity in and around the Cibolo area. Hearing gunshots alone does not necessarily mean a crime is occurring.

However, if you believe shots are being fired toward homes, roads, people, or other unsafe areas, or you have concerns about someone unlawfully discharging a firearm, please contact the Cibolo Police Department at

🦌 DOVE HUNTING SAFETY TIPS

• Always positively identify your target before firing.
• Know what is beyond your target.
• Never shoot toward homes, roads, people, or livestock.
• Keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction.
• Keep fi****ms unloaded until you are ready to hunt.
• Wear appropriate eye and hearing protection.
• Follow legal hunting hours and bag limits.
• Carry your required hunting license and permits/endorsements.
• Make sure you are hunting in a location where firearm discharge is legally permitted.

When in doubt, don't pull the trigger.

You can’t always explain it. There’s just a certain spark they have, a kindness, a warmth, a way of making you feel safe and happy simply by being around them.

That’s our crossing guards. 🛑💙

Every morning and afternoon, they stand out in the heat, cold, rain, and everything in between to help our students safely get where they need to go. They know the kids, wave to the families, and bring a little extra kindness to the start and end of each school day.

To our Cibolo crossing guards: thank you for being the kind of people who make our community feel a little safer, a little brighter, and a whole lot better.

Our SROs build relationships, earn trust, listen to our students, and become familiar, positive faces in their everyday school experience. Whether it’s a quick conversation over lunch, answering a question, or simply being present, those moments matter.

The Cibolo Police Department's Citizens Police Academy is your opportunity to go behind the scenes and experience policing from a whole new perspective.
Over the course of 10 weeks, participants will enjoy:

It’s the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, and the Cibolo Police Department wants to wish all of our students, teachers, staff, and families an incredible first day and an amazing school year! 🍎✏️

We also had to take a moment to appreciate the custom-painted senior parking spots! 🎨🚗 The creativity and personality that went into each one are already bringing some serious color to the start of the school year.

If this school year is as bright, creative, and full of personality as these parking spots, we already know it’s going to be an AWESOME one! 🙌

📊 Cibolo Police Department | July 2026 Monthly Stats 🚔

Every call answered, every traffic stop conducted, every report taken, and every community interaction represents our commitment to keeping Cibolo a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

Our officers remained proactive throughout July by responding to calls for service, enforcing traffic laws, investigating crimes, and engaging with our community. These numbers reflect the dedication of the men and women who proudly serve our city 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Thank you to our residents for being our partners in public safety. Your willingness to report suspicious activity, look out for your neighbors, and work alongside us continues to make a difference.

Today, the Cibolo Police Department joins together in remembering and honoring the life of our friend and former employee, Scott VanDerhoof.

Scott's time with our department left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was more than a coworker, he was a valued member of the Cibolo Police family whose kindness, dedication, and friendship will always be remembered. While we mourn his passing, we will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and lasting legacy Scott leaves behind.

Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with Scott's family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him during this difficult time.

A celebration of Scott's life will be held on Saturday, August 15, at 10:00 AM at Everyday Fellowship Church. We invite those who knew Scott to join in celebrating his life and honoring his memory.

Rest easy, Scott. You will always be a part of the Cibolo Police Department family, and you will never be forgotten.
