The Cibolo Fire Department, in partnership with the American Red Cross, offers free, long-life smoke alarms to eligible Cibolo residents through the Residential Smoke Alarm Program.

Working smoke alarms are one of the most effective ways to protect your home and loved ones by providing early warning in the event of a fire. In addition to standard long-life smoke alarms, visual warning devices and bed shaker alarms are available for households with accessibility needs.

At this week's City Council meeting, Councilmember Donetta Roberts, At-Large Place 6, was recognized for earning the Texas Municipal League (TML) designation of Certified Municipal Official after fulfilling the requirements of the TML Certified Municipal Official Program.

The designation recognizes Councilmember Roberts’ commitment to continuing education and strengthening her knowledge of municipal government and leadership.

Congratulations to the winners of the City of Cibolo Challenge Coin Design Contest! 🏆

At last night's City Council meeting, we were proud to recognize our three winning student designers and present them with scholarships made possible through the generosity of our community sponsors:

🥇 1st Place: Jackson Boyle — $7,585
🥈 2nd Place: Robert Brown — $2,335
🥉 3rd Place: Bailey Fitzgerald — $1,750

As our first-place winner, Jackson was also presented with the newly updated City of Cibolo Challenge Coin featuring his winning design!

A special shoutout to our community sponsors who made these scholarships possible. Thank you for investing in our local students and helping us celebrate their creativity and talent.

We were also glad to have Justin Hellmann, Steele High School CTE Teacher, join us for the presentation. Mr. Hellmann shared that he turned the Challenge Coin Design Contest into a class project and encouraged his students to participate, creating a great connection between the classroom and our community.

The City Council Meeting will be held today, August 25, at 6:30 PM at City Hall. 🏛 The agenda and livestream are available on the City's website at www.cibolotx.gov/agendas or on YouTube CityofCiboloTX.

The Citizens to Be Heard portion of each meeting gives residents and visitors an opportunity to address the City Council. Speakers must sign in before the meeting begins and are limited to three minutes.

Can't make the meeting? Written comments may be submitted by 2:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting to [email protected]. Please include your name, address, and the reason you are unable to attend. Eligible comments will be provided to the Mayor and City Council and may be summarized or read during the meeting at the discretion of the presiding officer.

GFiber officially broke ground on Aug. 11, marking the start of construction on its high-speed fiber optic network in Cibolo.

City leaders, GFiber representatives and community partners gathered to recognize this significant investment in Cibolo’s infrastructure. Once complete, the network will expand access to reliable, high-speed internet for residents and businesses, supporting education, remote work, economic development and the City’s continued growth.

Construction will continue throughout 2026, with service becoming available as portions of the network are completed.

The City of Cibolo invites you to attend a community town hall this evening, August 17, to learn more about data centers and how they may impact our community. Hear from Texas-based industry experts and partnering agencies as they discuss topics including energy use, water resources, economic impacts, environmental considerations, and the role data centers play in today's digital world. Bring your questions, share your thoughts and concerns, and take part in an open community conversation. A moderated Q&A will give you the opportunity to engage directly with presenters, City Councilmembers, and City staff.

Why attend?
The information shared and the feedback received will help inform the City Council as it considers future ordinances and regulations related to data centers in Cibolo.

Following the town hall, City Council will convene a Special Meeting at 9:00 PM to consider potential regulations for data centers and give direction to City staff to initiate work on an ordinance which will be brought to City Council at a future meeting.
