Since many of the CPAT testing facilities are reopening it has been decided that the Cicero Fire and Police Commission will restart the process of application return. We will be accepting applications on the following dates and times only. You must return all documents with the application including the CPAT card. Return to Public Safety Building at 5410 W 34 St. Since we will still be operating under the State of Illinois rules you will need to wear a mask and maintain safe distancing while in the building.

July 9, Thursday 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM - or -
July 10, Friday 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM - or -
July 11, Saturday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Applications will not be accepted at any other time or place.

Documents you will need to bring with:
-copy of birth certificate
-copy of driver's license
-copy of Firefighter certification only (no need to bring all certificates)
-copy of Medic certification (if certified at this time)
-copy of CPAT card
-copy of DD 214 (if applicable)
These documents will be kept in your application file and will not be returned.

The Cicero Fire and Police Commission reserves the right to refuse any incomplete or falsified application.

The testing for Firefighter for the Town of Cicero Fire Department has been temporarily suspended pending further instruction from the State of Illinois and the Town of Cicero. A new calendar of events will be created and distributed to those applicants who have already begun the process upon notice of the State and the Town. This is a heads up to those interested in applying to the Cicero Police Department.
The current Cicero Police Department eligibility list expires on 26 June 2020. The announcement will be published in late May of 2020. The announcement with requirements will be published in the Lawndale News and on The Town of Cicero web site at thetownofcicero.com . It will also be published on Facebook at cicero pfc or town of cicero police and fire commission .

For the first time ever all applicants will be required to produce a current POWER test card to be eligible to pick up an application. The Fire and Police Commission will NOT be conducting a physical ability test.

Cicero Fire Department Testing Announcement 2020, [email protected]

The Cicero Fire Department participates in a comprehensive testing process conducted by the Cicero Fire and Police Commission in order to prepare an eligibility list of qualified candidates for the Cicero Fire Department. The current eligibility list will expire on April 18, 2020 and the testing process for creating a new list will begin on March 14, 2020 with the distribution of applications. A maximum of 250 applications will be distributed. Applications will be available for pick up on this date only (14 March 2020) from 10:00 AM until all applications are distributed or 6:00 PM, whichever is later. Applications will be distributed at the Public Safety Building at 5410 W 34 St., Cicero, IL. Applications and all documents that are required for qualification to participate will be returned by the applicant to the Cicero Fire and Police Commission on a later date. You will receive further instructions when you pick up the application. ID is required!

The testing process is strenuous and time consuming. Applicants must attend all events in person with photo identification. After reviewing the below calendar, if you are unable to attend all events or do not possess the required qualifications please do not pick up an application.

The qualification requirements for participating in the process are:
--21 to 35 years of age at time of test (May 2, 2020);
--US citizen;
--speak, read and write the English language;
--valid driver’s license (Illinois Driver’s License will be required at time of hire);
--applicant must be a certified Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter with the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshall AT TIME OF APPLICATION;
--applicant must be a certified Illinois Department of Public Health paramedic AT TIME OF EMPLOYMENT.
-- must be able to qualify into the Loyola Hospital EMS system AT TIME OF EMPLOYMENT;
--no criminal background;
--valid current Candidate Physical Ability Test card (CPAT) and LADDER CLIMB with an issue date no earlier than May 2, 2019.. You must obtain the CPAT card and LADDER CLIMB on your own, the Town of Cicero Fire and Police Commission will not be participating in a physical agility test or ladder climb with applicants;
--provide an active (regularly monitored) email address. All future communication will be by email only.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS – doors will be closed and admittance refused after posted start time for all events with the exception of application return dates at which time doors will be closed at posted end time.
--14 March 2020, 10:00 to 6:00 PM or until 250 applications have been distributed. At Public Safety Building, 5410 W 34 St.
--26 or 27 or 28 March. *26 or 27 March 2020 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm or * 28 March from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Applications are to be returned for approval and acceptance. Please bring copies of the following documents at this time; birth certificate or naturalization papers, driver’s license, fire fighter certificate, paramedic certificate and license and DD 214 if applicable, passport size color photo and valid email address. A $50 money order or certified check will be required at this time payable to the Town of Cicero (no cash or personal checks accepted). At Public Safety Building, 5410 W 34 St.
--06 April 2020, 7:00 pm. Orientation at the Cicero Community Center gym. 2250 S 49 Ave. Parking available in facility at south west corner of town hall campus.
--02 May 2020, 9:00 am. Written test, score of 70 is required to continue. No electronic devices of any kind will be allowed in facility. At Cicero Community Center gym.
-12 and 13 May 2020 at 5:00 pm. Oral interviews for those who have passed written exam. Qualified applicants will be notified of appointment date and time. At Cicero Community Center, room to be announced.
