Cicero Public Library More than 100 years serving the people of Cicero!

The mission of the Cicero Public Library is to acquire and make accessible the information, materials and services needed by the residents of the Town of Cicero, and to support the principles of intellectual freedom. The Cicero Public Library’s collection consists of fiction and non-fiction titles both in English and Spanish, educational and feature DVDs and videocassettes, CDs and audiobooks in E

nglish and Spanish. The many services we provide for our residents are: Reference services, adult and children programs in English and Spanish, computer stations with Microsoft programs and internet access, free wi-fi, photocopiers, interlibrary loan and fax service. Although a Cicero Public Library card is required to use some of these services, many of the services are free of charge and available to patrons who do not have a Cicero Public Library card.

The Cicero Public Library joins communities around the world in remembering and celebrating the life and legacy of Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25th, 2026, at the age of 80.

While she will forever be remembered for her incredible music and larger-than-life personality, Dolly also leaves behind a remarkable legacy in literacy, books, and children’s education.

In 1995, Dolly founded Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, inspired by her father, who was unable to read or write. What began as a small effort to provide books to children in her home county grew into a worldwide program that has gifted millions of free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five.

Her commitment to literacy has also been recognized by the American Library Association (ALA), which elected Dolly Parton to honorary lifetime membership in 2023, the Association’s highest honor. A fitting recognition for someone who has spent decades helping children discover the magic, imagination, and possibilities found in books.

Rest in Peace, Dolly. Thank you for helping generations of children discover the magic of books. Your legacy will continue, one book and one reader at a time.💗

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Intermediate/Advanced Level Chess Nights! ♟️

We had a fantastic time learning, playing, and putting our skills to the test. On Monday, we wrapped up the session with an exciting chess tournament! 🏆

Congratulations to our tournament winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who participated and made these Chess Nights so much fun!

A special thank you to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office for making this event possible, and a very special thank you to Dr. K, Chess Connoisseur, for sharing his knowledge, passion, and love of the game with our community!
