In 1892, Joseph Prudent (standing on the left) and his family pose in front of their business The Twelve Mile Hotel, located on Kellogg Avenue east of Five Mile Road. Prudent, who came from France in 1852, was among the local farmers who cultivated grapes in the township known as Sweetwine along the Ohio River.

We’re trying something a little different on the Farm…dinner first, concert second, and hopefully a whole lot of fun in between. 😄🌻🎶
Join us for our first Old-Fashioned Community Picnic, where friends, families, and neighbors can gather, share some great food, catch up, and enjoy a relaxed evening together.
ATHS will provide the meat… you bring your favorite side dish or two to share! Then grab your lawn chairs, settle in, and enjoy the evening.
Once the picnic winds down, stick around because the music is just getting started with a live concert on the Farm! 🎵
Come for the food, stay for the music, and help us start what we hope becomes a favorite new Farm tradition. 🇺🇸❤️

Vintage image from 1913 is of Douglas Sheldon in front of his hardware store at what would be 7721 Beechmont Avenue today. Shed at the right was the Cincinnati, Georgetown & Portsmouth Railroad Station, where Sheldon was the station agent.

Image from 1923 is the interior of the Sheldon Hardware Store. Pictured left to right are Douglas Sheldon, Theodore Hawkins and Wilbur Hawkins. Sheldon sold his store in 1927 to the Forestville Fuel and Supply Company, which was in business for more than 40 years.

This vintage image dated 1925 shows Mont Davis, on the left, in front of The Davis Market, which was a roadside stand located at the southeast corner of Beechmont Avenue and Salem Pike. Mont, along with his father Clem Davis, operated the market beginning in 1919, and much of the produce sold came from Mont's nearby farm on Markley Road.

Lesley Gressle digitally tinted this image using Photoshop with ATHS permission. We have a few tinted images if people would like to see them; this one is posted in response to a comment on a previous post. Let us know.
