What does it look like when leadership is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to quality care, support, and the opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life?

How do we use our influence to make sure essential services reach the people and communities who need them most?

And how can civic leaders help create systems where women, families, and individuals can access the care they deserve?

We’re honored to feature Kate Schroder, President of Interact for Health as our featured speaker. Through her work, Kate is helping expand access to quality healthcare and essential services for people across our community—with a particular focus on meeting the needs of women.

Kate will share her leadership journey, the challenges that come with creating meaningful change, and the lessons she’s learned about building stronger, healthier communities.

Together, we’ll explore what it means to lead with purpose, advocate for access, and use your seat at the table to help make quality care more accessible to everyone.

Great leadership doesn’t stop when you take your seat at the table, but it starts there.

Serving on a board means more than showing up and casting a vote. It means asking the right questions, understanding your responsibilities, navigating difficult decisions, and making choices that reflect the trust your community has placed in you.

That’s where ethics comes in.

At our next Appointed Civic Leadership Academy session, we’ll take a closer look at the ethical side of board service with Professor Julie Olberding from Northern Kentucky University (NKU). Together, we’ll explore the real-world questions board members face and what it means to lead thoughtfully, responsibly, and with integrity.

Consider this the next step in your civic leadership journey: moving from wanting to make a difference to understanding how to make that difference well.

Standing Together for Women!

Today, on Women’s Equality Day, we’re celebrating what happens when organizations come together to support women in every part of their journey.

From economic security and financial independence to employment, safety, and opportunity, the work we do may look different, but it is connected. When women have the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive, our entire community is stronger.

That’s why collaboration matters. We don’t have to do the same work to share a common vision: a community where every woman has the opportunity to build a secure, economically mobile future.

We’re proud to stand alongside organizations like the YWCA Greater Cincinnati, Dress for Success Cincinnati, and Women Helping Women all of us intentionally working towards that future we want for women.

We’re building something great for women. Who else will join us?

We asked you to show up. You showed up — in a tornado warning!

The turnout for The Story of Us: Pulse & Progress on August 11 was nothing short of incredible, and we are still riding the high from it. Cincinnati, you never cease to amaze us.

The conversation was led by our extraordinary moderator Mary Stagaman and brought to life by three of the most compelling voices in our region:

• Rickell Howard Smith, President & CEO, YWCA Greater Cincinnati

• Kiana R. Trabue, MPH, President, HealthPath Foundation of Ohio

• Dr. Dean Woodring, President & CEO, 4C for Children

Their insights, stories, and passion for this work had the room buzzing well into the evening.

Before the conversation even began, we were led by our Applied Research Director Dr. Travis Speice, in building a mini dashboard together — live in the room — giving guests a firsthand look at how data is collected, interpreted, and put to work. Spoiler: it was pretty cool.

And it was all in service of something bigger. Pulse 2.0 is our forthcoming free, interactive data dashboard that will track economic security, wages, childcare, and more for women and girls across Greater Cincinnati — putting real, actionable data into the hands of advocates, policymakers, employers, and community members across our eight-county region. For free. For everyone. Launching January 2027.

The food from our incredible Findlay Kitchen women-owned vendors was delicious, the live portrait art created by Karen Boyhen was unforgettable, and the generosity in that room was humbling.

To every single person who walked through those doors in that weather — you are our story. Thank you for being part of it.
