⏰Working 40 hours a week instead of 20 only increases gross resources by 10% for some Ohio families experiencing the cliff effect.

When raises or additional hours lead to the loss of public benefits, working more does not always result in greater financial stability.

What happens when more than 100 civic-minded leaders gather in one room with a shared commitment to strengthening their communities?

On Saturday, June 6, we found out.
More than 100 leaders from across the Greater Cincinnati region joined us for the summer session of the Appointed Civic Leadership Academy, united by a desire to learn, lead, and make a difference in their communities.

The energy, optimism, and commitment to civic engagement in the room were inspiring. Participants came prepared to begin or strengthen their civic leadership journeys, creating an atmosphere of excitement, collaboration, and possibility.

Together, we explored leadership styles, examined the structure of local government, and took a deep dive into board appointments related to planning, zoning, and economic development.

We are especially grateful for the knowledge, insight, and expertise shared by our outstanding speakers and panelists. They made every minute count.

Heartfelt thanks to: Anna Albi , Council Member, City Of Cincinnati Government

‼️42,375 households in Hamilton County fall below the Self-Sufficiency Standard.

The federal poverty level does not fully reflect what families actually need to survive and thrive. Our research explores the gap between wages, public benefits, and the real cost of living.

📢 In Hamilton County, 30.7% of female-headed households fall below the poverty level.

Women, especially single mothers, are disproportionately impacted by systems that make economic mobility harder to achieve. Our new Cliff Effect Resource Hub explores how benefit cliffs shape financial stability across Ohio communities.

The Women’s Fund’s Appointed in Motion members were honored to join Groundwork Ohio at the Ohio Statehouse this week for Family Voices at the Statehouse.

Nearly 300 parents, caregivers, babies, toddlers, young children and advocates from across the state came together in Columbus on Wednesday to share their stories, connect with lawmakers and staff, and advocate for reliable, affordable, and accessible child care. For many families, it was their first time talking directly with legislators.

We’re especially grateful to the lawmakers who took the time to listen and engage in meaningful, bipartisan dialogue, keeping the needs of the families front and center.

A big thank you to Vanessa Butler, JD, Lynanne Gutierrez , and the amazing team at Groundwork Ohio for inviting us to be part of this impactful event. We're grateful for the opportunity to help elevate the voices of Ohio families.
