Have you ever driven past this building on Queen City Avenue and wondered what it’s for?

Back in the 1930s, Cincinnati’s growing West Side was pushing its water system to the brink. After years of debate, the city chose progress — building this striking new pumping station next door to the original and powering it with modern electric pumps.

When it opened in 1937, it was proudly called one of the most modern stations in the country. A quiet piece of infrastructure, but a big step forward for a growing city.

After months of mentoring, our Adopt‑A‑Class students finally got a behind‑the‑scenes look at how we keep our community’s drinking water safe.
During their end‑of‑year field trip, students from Mt. Washington, Mount Airy, and Winton Hills toured the Richard Miller Treatment Plant, tried hands‑on experiments, and shared lunch with the teams who make it all happen.
The opportunity to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and problem‑solvers is exactly why we love partnering with programs like !
