Forest Hills is a place where all members of the district are engaged in providing educational opportunities that empower students to excel. With a tradition of excellence and a supportive community, Forest Hills provides an innovative curriculum, high expectations and total devotion to young people. As a comprehensive preschool through 12th-grade public school district, FHSD serves approximately

7,200 students in Anderson Township and the Village of Newtown. The district is home to nine neighborhood schools offering more than 165 courses, four global languages, 28 Advanced Placement courses, 100 extracurricular activities, 30 athletic programs and an array of fine and performing arts opportunities. By blending face-to-face instruction with technology, FHSD provides personalized, student-centered learning that empowers students to fully explore their subjects and interests.

Strong schools and strong communities go hand in hand. We were proud to have FHSD represented at today’s Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce meeting, where local business leaders had the opportunity to connect with Superintendent Suzanna Davis, school administrators and four of our high school students.

Meaningful partnerships with local businesses and community organizations provide valuable opportunities for our students to learn, grow and experience the world beyond the classroom. We’re excited to continue building these connections—and to bring even more FHSD students into the conversation at future Chamber meetings.

Together, we can help ensure our students are prepared to thrive in whatever adventure comes next. There are A LOT of ways we partner with local businesses, but one program that has continued to grow and expand in recent years is XCL (Experiential Career Learning), which offers students a variety of hands-on learning and career exploration opportunities. FHSD's elementary choirs shared their talents at the Florence Y'alls game last week! 🎤⚾

Fifth- and sixth-grade choir students at all the FHSD elementary schools had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem before the game. They did such a wonderful job representing their schools and FHSD!

It was around this time 50 years ago that anticipation was building for the opening season of Turpin High School football. 🏈

The Forest Hills Journal covered the emotion and excitement of a young Spartan roster in its August 31, 1976, newspaper.

High schools had traditionally played their first football seasons on a reserve schedule, but Turpin jumped straight into varsity matchups due to the demands of the league. Despite the team having no seniors and mostly underclassmen, there was much optimism for the future due to the team’s athleticism and support from a very active booster’s association and very talented cheerleading and marching band squads.

Thank you to the Anderson Township Historical Society for preserving this piece of history!
