Another great week ahead at the Anderson Township Senior Center! Please note: We will be closed on Monday for Labor Day and the Forestville Baptist Church parking lot will be repaved on Tuesday and Wednesday. You may park at Firestone, but only in the places closest to the Senior Center. You may also park behind the school district office.

On Tuesday, we’ll learn about the history of our wonderful Bengals football team. The musical group Johnson and Hayes will perform songs from the 60s to the 90s. We’ll have a special program on Friday about digitalizing your Social Security account. These are in addition to our regularly scheduled programs. It’s going to be hot outside this week, but the Anderson Township Senior Center is always the COOLEST 😎 place to be!

We’ll have lunchtime music every day this week. On Friday, there will be an informative program on sensory changes with dementia. Walk and Talk this Wednesday will feature music from the wonderful Dolly Parton. 🦋 We’ll debut “Crafternoon” on Thursday-bring your own needlework or other project and enjoy time with new friends. “Dirty Dancing” is our movie matinee - so cool!- and you know, nobody puts baby in a corner! Reminder: On Wednesday, September 2nd, the entrance by Cane’s Chicken will be closed for repaving. You can enter between the school district office and the fire station.

It was Who Dey Day at the Anderson Township Senior Center! Over 140 members enjoyed a cookout tailgate lunch, dancing, and amazing music from the Chapter Three Band. We like to party at ATSC as you can see in the pictures! So many smiles!

The week ahead has bees, Bengals, books and botany! Member and beekeeper, Jack Vehr, will talk about his fascinating hobby. Our Bengals tailgate party is Tuesday. Lunch reservations are closed, but bring your own and join in the fun! Our book club will meet and we’ll have a presentation about caring for trees in the fall. And much more! It was a magic Monday at the Anderson Township Senior Center! Our Silver Sneakers fitness class and our painters started the morning off. We had a program about Franklin D. Roosevelt, a card group, and Tai Chi. Jon Armstrong led our ukulele class in a wonderful concert and our line dancers boot, scoot and boogied! And- over 100 members were here for lunch! What a wonderful day!

A few changes to our schedule this week:
*Diane Shields will not be at our center on Monday to speak about Franklin Roosevelt. We will show a video about his life instead.
*Jon Armstrong will be playing acoustic guitar on Monday and has invited a few guests! Members of his ukulele class will join him for a few songs. It’s always a special day when our own members perform!

We will have an important presentation on Tuesday from the Alzheimer’s Association. This disease is the most common cause of dementia in older adults. We will have a program on Friday from our own weatherman, George Zabrecky, who will speak about plants in the fall and gourds! If you have a gourd to share, bring it in! Anderson Township Senior Center by the numbers:

*We currently have 840 members, with that number increasing each week

*Members range in age from 50 to 101

*We have 121 activities planned for the month of August

*An average of 1,500 lunches are served each month

*Yearly membership fees are only $15 for Anderson Township residents, slightly higher for non- residents.

*We will have an Open House on September 16th, from 4 - 6 p.m. Come take a tour, listen to live music, enjoy refreshments, and learn about all our center has to offer. We’d love to meet you! Call 513-474-3100 for information.
