Did you know that the Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission has a part of assisting Veterans in Treatment Court each week?

Justice Coordinator Ron Mitchell is our liaison to the Court and the Veterans who are involved.

Hamilton County Veterans' Treatment Court meets weekly to help veterans address legal issues through treatment and accountability rather than traditional prosecution.

Judge Brad Greenberg said regular probationers re-offend at a rate of 30-35%, compared to only 15% for veterans in the treatment court program.

Kicking off this Friday welcoming officers from Cincinnati Police Department at our new location at 1701 Patricia McCollum Way.

The Department is here for a day-long training with the topic focused on working effectively with Veterans. Most of the officers in attendance today are Veterans themselves. It’s a special privilege to have so many (40-plus) in the house!

Our Executive Director Glenn Welling had the opportunity to speak at the start of the training to share resources for Veterans. He also encouraged Veterans who are officers to seek assistance from our office to file a claim or research benefits for which they might be entitled.

FUN FACT: One of the benefits of our new location is that we have space to host community groups.

We will be at Friday's (May 29) LOCAL 12, WKRC-TV Senior Resources Fair ready to connect with Veterans. It starts at 12 at Sharonville Convention Center. Hope to see you!
