On September 5, Pierce Township police officers responded to a report of a missing four-year-old child. While officers and family members searched the area, several neighbors immediately stepped in to help.

One of those neighbors, Ms. Mary Church, located the child walking nearby and safely returned him home. We are happy to report that the child was found safe and unharmed.

Officer Jesse Edwards presented Ms. Church with a Golden Ticket in recognition of her kindness and willingness to help a neighbor in need.

We would also like to thank the other members of the neighborhood who joined in the search. Their willingness to stop what they were doing and help is a great example of neighbors looking out for one another.

Thank you, Ms. Church, and thank you to everyone who assisted. We appreciate having community members who are willing to step up when someone needs help.

We are sure everyone has seen an increase in e-bikes in the community. Attached is a flyer explaining the classifications of E-Bikes and addressing the requirements for operators.

Note: A common question is whether E-Bikes can be ridden on sidewalks. The answer is only if the motor is disengaged and the operator is only pedaling the bike.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Schultz as the new Assistant Police Chief of the Pierce Township Police Department.

Justin has served our department with distinction, and I am confident that his leadership, experience, and commitment to our officers and our community will be tremendous assets in this new role.

As Assistant Chief, Justin will play an important part in helping us continue to improve, grow, and take the Pierce Township Police Department to the next level.

Early this morning, Pierce Township officers stopped three individuals in the Prestwick area after officers developed probable cause to believe they were involved in vehicle break-ins.

Video obtained by officers, along with property recovered near the scene, has linked the unarmed individuals to the reported offenses. The investigation remains ongoing.

Residents in the Prestwick area are asked to review their residential camera footage from the early morning hours. If you have video that may show suspicious activity, individuals, or vehicles in the area, please contact Officer Christopher Chesney at [email protected].

Thank you to our residents for your continued vigilance in keeping Pierce Township safe. Please do not approach or confront anyone you believe may be involved in criminal activity; contact law enforcement instead.

Yesterday, Pierce Township Trustee Allen Freeman had the honor of swearing in our newest police officer, Officer Dakota Gullett.

Officer Gullett was joined by his family as he took the oath of office, making it a memorable occasion for everyone in attendance.

Officer Gullett is excited to begin serving the residents of Pierce Township, and we are proud to welcome him to our department.

We are investigating several thefts from vehicles during the early morning hours of August 3. The thefts occurred in the areas of Legendary Run, Turnberry, Kipling Crossing, and Kittery Lane.

In every case, the vehicles had been left unlocked, and in several incidents, key fobs were stolen.

Please help protect yourself by taking these simple precautions:
• Always lock your vehicle.
• Remove valuables and other items from plain view.
• Never leave your key fob inside your vehicle.

If you live in or near these neighborhoods, please check your Ring or other home security cameras for any suspicious person(s) or activity during the early morning hours of August 3.
