Enjoy an ‘Anderson Trail’ on National Trail Day

Today is National Trails Day, and a timely opportunity enjoy a portion of the nearly 25 miles of paved or concrete trails in our community that have been constructed through the award-winning Anderson Trails Program. These include sidewalks or paths along heavily travelled county roadways, and sections of the very popular Five Mile, Ohio River, and Little Miami trails here in Anderson, including one of the newest, a link over the Little Miami River that opened in late 2022.

Anderson Township has leveraged or over $25 Million in investment in this infrastructure over the last 25 years. These amenities have been constructed without any local tax increase since the township’s 1998 Road, Hike & Bike tax levy. Those monies and TIF revenues generated from new development have fueled this transformation.

Of course, there are also natural trails on several of the township’s 700 acres of Greenspace, and wonderful paved and natural surface trails on Anderson Parks, or Great Parks of Hamilton County, properties across our community.

Enjoy the adventure as you hop on a trail today and see where it takes you!

Newtown-Clough Intersection Area Improvements Begin

Construction has begun on a project to add left-turn lanes on Clough Pike to Newtown Road and to the Alcove of Turpin Hills apartments. The project will also complete the sidewalk connection on Clough Pike from Newtown Road to Copperleaf (and Turpin Hills).

The improvements are made possible by an ODOT grant and are based on the township’s 2021 Clough Pike Transportation Study. The new turn lanes will ease traffic backups, and the sidewalk will improve pedestrian safety by finishing the Clough sidewalks that link the Turpin Hills area to the Clough Pike Historical Business District.

Traffic will be maintained on Clough Pike during construction. However, beginning Monday, June 8, single lane closures on Clough Pike will be in place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to allow for the temporary widening of the roadway. Delays are possible and motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone.

The project is projected to be completed late this fall.

Remembering Our History, One Story at a Time

The interesting history of Anderson Township and its pioneer beginnings has been documented in the township’s Anderson Insights publication for almost 15 years.
Through a collaboration with the Anderson Township Historical Society, the township newsletter Anderson Insights and the society have helped present, preserve and protect historic information and artifacts related to Anderson Township.

Now, years of History Notes articles have been compiled into one download for your reading enjoyment at https://andersontownshipoh.gov/news-events/news/2026/06/02/remembering-our-history-one-story-at-a-time.

History Notes articles have appeared in Anderson Insights since 2012, and these articles continue to be perhaps the most popular section of the publication. With the help of several authors over the years, the History Notes stories have delved into memories about local schools, historic buildings, seasons, transportation, noted residents and more.

We hope this booklet will help you appreciate and enjoy your own community’s past and present by learning about people and places that are familiar to you.

Check Out Regulations Before You Build

Are summer projects on your mind? If so, remember there are regulations in place regarding certain kinds of home improvements.
Zoning certificates are required for many exterior projects, so explore the rules before you start planning that improvement.

For details about the approval process for fences, sheds, decks, additions, or other projects, check out the story on page 9 in the April 2025 edition of Anderson Insights at https://andersontownshipoh.gov/Portals/andersontownship/Documents/Departments/Newsletter%20Insights/AT%20Insights%20April%2025%20B2610%20Web%20rev.pdf.
