Gloria Steinem spent her life challenging the systems and expectations that limited women’s voices, choices and opportunities. Her work helped move gender equity from the margins of the national conversation and inspired generations of women to recognize their own power to create change.

At YWCA Greater Cincinnati, we share her belief that progress requires both courage and action. Our mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all calls us to continue pushing for a world where every woman and girl has the opportunity to live safely, lead fully and be heard.

We mourn the loss of an Ohio-born trailblazer while honoring her in the most meaningful way we can: by continuing the work.

Yesterday, YWCA team members Michelle Gundrum, Nicole Williams, Tiffany Wilson, and Juwana Glover had the pleasure of attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Nestlé Purina facility in Batavia. This opening is especially significant, as it marks Purina’s first new U.S. manufacturing facility in more than 50 years.

We were honored to celebrate this milestone with a community partner that has also supported the work of YWCA Greater Cincinnati. In July 2025, Purina staff volunteered their time to assist with the opening of our Safe Havens Paw Program at Francie Garber Pepper House of Healing, helping us create a space where domestic violence survivors can seek safety without having to leave their beloved pets behind.

We are excited to welcome Purina to Batavia and look forward to the economic and social impact this new facility will have on the community. Congratulations to the entire Nestlé Purina team on this exciting milestone!

This is what collaboration looks like. Our missions are distinct, but our vision for women in our community is shared.

Our organizations support women at different moments and in different ways, creating a continuum of services, resources and opportunities that help women find safety, build stability, grow their careers, strengthen their economic security and thrive.

We don’t compete. We collaborate. We connect, champion and strengthen one another because we know we can make a bigger impact when we work together.

On Women’s Equality Day, we’re championing women supporting women and a Cincinnati where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.

There’s something powerful about getting in a room with people who understand the work you do every day!

Our team recently joined leaders from more than 60 domestic violence and sexual assault programs across Ohio for the Ohio Domestic Violence Network's annual Leadership Retreat. Juwana Glover, our Chief Program Officer and ODVN Board Chair, led a session on "Steady Leadership in Uncertain Times," talking with nearly 50 leaders about staff wellness, compassion fatigue and ways to help their teams stay resilient through challenging times.

YWCA team members Tiffany Wilson and Nicole Williams joined Juwana for the retreat, taking time to learn, connect and recharge alongside others doing this important work across the state.

Some conversations have the power to move a community forward.

This fall, YWCA Greater Cincinnati is launching Mission Forward Speaker Series, a new annual event bringing nationally recognized thought leaders to Cincinnati for conversations that inspire action, advance equity and strengthen our community.

We are honored to welcome acclaimed legal scholar, civil rights advocate and bestselling author Professor Anita Hill as our inaugural speaker.

Join us October 28 at Memorial Hall as we begin a new tradition of bringing our community together around the ideas, challenges and opportunities shaping our future.

Mission Forward is presented with the generous support of Interact for Health.

Sponsorship opportunities are available now. Individual tickets go on sale September 8.
