On April 10, 2026, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Command 600, Engine 601, Ladder 604, and Sprint 605 were requested to respond as mutual aid to a commercial building fire at Searcy Hospital.

Because the grounds had been vacated, there were no operational hydrants available on site. Mobile County, Washington County, and Baldwin County resources were requested to assist with tanker support.

Upon arrival, units found a large three-story building, known as the tower arsenal, heavily involved with a roof collapse already in progress. Due to the size and intensity of the fire, embers spread and ignited two additional buildings on the property.

Operations on the main three-story building remained defensive throughout the incident. Creola’s tower ladder and Citronelle’s ladder truck were utilized to attack the fire and bring the blaze under control.

At the two additional buildings, fire had extended from the roof into the attic spaces. Firefighters used a 35-foot extension ladder to knock down the fire and then made entry to confirm extinguishment. At the third building, firefighters accessed a second-floor balcony, forced entry, and extinguished the remaining fire.

This was a large-scale incident involving approximately 20 fire departments, 40 fire apparatus, 80 firefighters, and three separate building fires. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately six hours to ensure all fires were fully extinguished.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Engine 601, Engine 602, Engine 603, Sprint 605 and Brush 610 responded along with Georgetown-Fellowship V.F.D., Oak Grove Volunteer Fire-Rescue, Turnerville Fire Department to Russel Rd. for reports of a structure fire.

Engine 601 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the Charlie/Bravo corner of the structure. Crews deployed an attack line to the rear while additional units worked to establish a positive water supply.

Citronelle Police Department advised that an elderly resident may still be inside the home. Crews immediately transitioned to rescue operations, forcing entry through the front door and initiating a primary search.

Both primary and secondary searches were completed and confirmed no occupants were inside.

The fire was brought under control, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Andrews Ace Home Centers for their generous donation of a full pallet of bottled water to our department.

Not only did they donate it, but they also took the time to deliver it directly to us. Support like this makes a real difference, especially as we head into warmer weather and continue training and responding to calls.

We are incredibly grateful to have community partners like Andrews Hardware who consistently step up to support local first responders.

Thank you again for your generosity and continued support of our department!

🎄 Citronelle Fire & Rescue – Annual Christmas Dinner 🎄

Tonight we gathered for our annual Fire Department Christmas Dinner, and it was a great evening of fellowship, good food, and celebrating the dedication of our team.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Kim Simison for once again cooking an amazing meal for everyone. Kim has volunteered her time and talent year after year, and our department is truly grateful for everything she does.

We also want to extend a sincere thank you to Mrs. Terri Coffman for donating a cake for tonight’s dinner. Her continued support, and the legacy of her father, RB Miles, who served this department for so many years, means more than words can express.

To all of our members who were able to attend — thank you for being part of a great night. And to those who weren’t able to make it, thank you for everything you do throughout the year. Whether you’re responding to calls, attending training, or stepping up when the community needs you, your commitment to the City of Citronelle and to this department is deeply appreciated.

We’d also like to congratulate Tristan Schwartz for winning our annual training raffle — two years in a row! Congratulations, Tristan!

From all of us at Citronelle Fire & Rescue, thank you for your service, your dedication, and your heart for this community. We’re proud of each and every one of you.

Merry Christmas, Citronelle! 🚒❤️🎄

On December 2, 2025, at approximately 19:30 hours, Command 600, Engine 602, and Brush 608 responded to Highway 45 for reports of a vehicle on fire threatening nearby vegetation. Upon arrival, bystanders flagged down responding personnel and advised that the fire was located behind a homemade sheet-metal fence.

As firefighters located the gate and attempted to make entry, they were met with junkyard-type conditions that significantly restricted access. While crews worked to position an attack line and determine the safest approach, one victim was located unconscious. Fire personnel immediately initiated medical care and requested an EMS unit.

Once access was gained, firefighters discovered that three vehicles were burning and that the fire was spreading toward a nearby residence. An additional hose line was stretched to the front door as interior crews prepared to make entry.

Due to the extreme challenges on scene—including limited access, heavy fire load, and hoarding conditions inside the structure—mutual aid was requested from Georgetown Fire and Oak Grove Fire & Rescue. Mobile County EMS transported the patient to a local hospital.

Engine 603 arrived shortly after and established a water supply from a nearby hydrant. In total, three attack lines were placed into service: one operating on the exterior rear and two inside the residence. Crews brought the fire under control a short time later.

We want to thank all responding personnel and our mutual-aid partners for their hard work and coordination during this challenging incident.

🔥 Safety Reminder:
Incidents like this highlight how quickly fire can spread when access is limited and combustible materials are stored around homes. Please keep driveways, yards, and entry points clear and accessible.
