🇺🇸 Citrus Heights Neighbors 🇺🇸
As we head into Independence Day in less than a month, let's keep our community safe and celebrate responsibly!

Illegal fireworks are a serious fire hazard – they can ignite roofs, spread quickly causing significant damage, and put families (especially young kids enjoying safe celebrations) at risk.

Remember: Only Safe & Sane fireworks with the official California State Fire Marshal seal are legal here. Nothing that shoots into the air or explodes. If it doesn't have the seal, it's illegal.

We'd rather celebrate together than cite anyone. Share this if you're choosing safety!

🟦 Honoring a Hero on the Field 🏈
Today, our department had the honor of participating in the Placer County Sheriff's Office Mike Davis Memorial Flag Football Tournament at Del Oro High School.

We came together with law enforcement teams from across the region to celebrate the life and legacy of fallen Deputy Mike Davis - through competition, camaraderie, and plenty of friendly trash talk on the field.

From opening kickoff to the final whistle, it was an incredible day filled with heart, hustle, and real brotherhood. Big thanks to everyone who laced up, brought the energy, and represented their agencies with pride. You all made Mike’s memory shine bright today.

These events remind us why we do what we do - for the fallen, for each other, and for the communities we serve. There’s something special about being part of a team that shows up like this, both on and off the field.

Rest easy, Mike. We’ve got the watch. 👮‍♂️💙

A huge shout-out to the organizers, volunteers, and all the teams who made this possible. Until next year!

📹 A doorbell camera helped turn a few clues into an arrest.

Earlier this month, patrol officers responded to a report of a violent altercation that left a victim with a significant injury. The suspect had already fled before officers arrived.

During a neighborhood canvass, officers located a nearby doorbell camera with footage showing the suspect leaving the area with an electric bicycle. The video captured key details, including the suspect's clothing and direction of travel.

Using that information, officers located the suspect nearby, developed additional evidence, and ultimately made an arrest.

This case is a great reminder that doorbell cameras and home security systems don't just protect property - they can provide critical evidence that helps identify suspects, corroborate witness statements, and solve crimes.

Technology can be a force multiplier, but it only works when the community partners with our hardworking officers. Thank you to all the residents who share footage with us when incidents occur.

🐕 Can you help the CHPD K-9 Unit train?

Our K-9 team is looking for new locations throughout Citrus Heights and the surrounding area where they can conduct training exercises.

Training in different environments helps keep our K-9 team prepared for the wide variety of situations they may encounter while protecting our community.

We are particularly interested in:

✅ Vacant commercial buildings
✅ Empty office spaces
✅ Warehouses
✅ Buildings scheduled for renovation or demolition
✅ Vacant retail locations
✅ Other temporarily available properties

Our K-9 teams use these locations to conduct building searches, tracking exercises, and controlled training scenarios. We bring all necessary equipment and training aids with us. In most cases, all we need is permission from the property owner or manager and access to the site.

These training opportunities help ensure our K-9 team remains ready when they are needed most.

If you own, manage, or represent a property that may be suitable, please send us a direct message or contact us at:

📧 [email protected]
📞 (916) 727-5500

Thank you for supporting your Citrus Heights Police Department and helping us maintain a highly trained K-9 team.

Happy Friday, Citrus Heights! As many in our community prepare to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend, here is this week’s highlighting department activity from May 15 – May 21, 2026.

As you gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely:
• Never drive under the influence
• Buckle up and obey speed limits
• Stay alert for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists
• Plan ahead for a safe ride home

Most importantly, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Please join us in recognizing Code Enforcement Supervisor Debra Miller and POP Sergeant Dave Jones on recently completing the Leadership Citrus Heights program through the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce.

This year marked the return of Leadership Citrus Heights, bringing together local leaders committed to strengthening and investing in our community. Over the past nine months, community leader participants collaborated on projects designed to leave a lasting and positive impact throughout Citrus Heights.

Last week, and in front of Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taft and CH Chamber Executive Director Sheri AB Merrick, the class celebrated the completion of one of those projects at Sunrise Recreation & Park District's Rusch Park, including the unveiling of a new beautiful community art mural and the installation of an AED defibrillator to help support public safety and emergency preparedness at the park.

We are incredibly proud of Supervisor Miller and Sgt. Jones for representing the Citrus Heights Police Department through their continued commitment to service, collaboration, and community leadership both on and off duty.

Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to life and helping make Citrus Heights an even stronger community.
