Today, I joined other community leaders in celebrating the grand reopening of Steel Center for Career and Technical Education.

I am proud to support our technical schools and assisted to secure $4 million in state funding for the renovation and expansion of the school.

Students from 11 different school districts will fill the halls for the first time this school year on Monday. It’s key that we invest in apprenticeships, CTE and vo-tech education to strengthen our workforce and give students pathways toward their future goals.

Pictured with me is Sue Mackulin, president of the West Jefferson Hills Chamber of Commerce.

This past weekend, I spent some time with my friends at the St. Thomas à Becket Summer Fest.

Natalie and Sadie enjoyed the chocolate ice cream a little too much as you can see from their outfits.

Last evening, I had the honor of participating in the annual Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department Carnival’s parade. I rode with Autumn Cox in a 1967 Camaro. What a fun night!

The carnival runs through Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Ballfield, 6024 Route 88, Finleyville.

Ronald Reagan once said "I’d rather get 80 percent of what I want than go over the cliff with my flags flying."

While this budget did not give everyone 100% of what they wanted, it reflects a commonsense compromise between both parties and leaves southwestern Pennsylvania better off than it was last year.

I am proud to have delivered an additional $2,681,082 in funding to our school districts in the 39th District, and I will continue to advocate for economic development in the Mon Valley and South Hills of Pittsburgh.
