On Monday, Oct. 26, I am co-hosting with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) an event to help parents better understand online gaming, online predators and emerging artificial intelligence (AI) risks facing children.

It will begin at 6 p.m. at the Pleasant Hills Borough Building, 410 E. Bruceton Road, Pleasant Hills.

PSP Tpr. Rocco Gagliardi will provide an overview of the popular gaming platform Roblox, discuss how predators may target children in gaming environments and explore the potential misuse of AI online. The session will also cover common grooming tactics, warning signs that a child may be interacting with someone unsafe online and real-world examples of how predators move conversations from gaming to other platforms. Finally, the presentation will outline several practical steps to ensure children can navigate the internet safely, including parental controls and protections.

We had a great turnout at Senator Devlin Robinson's Senior Expo. It was nice to catch up with the senator, PA State Rep. Natalie Mihalek and many residents at the Library Volunteer Fire Company Station 271 in South Park Township.

Our family had a great time getting some fresh air on the hayride at Triple B Farms' Fall Festival. Many thanks to the Beinlich family for having such an asset to the 39th Legislative District!

𝐊𝐮𝐳𝐦𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩

In the past few weeks, a developer by the name of Tim Hendrecks has approached both the Elizabeth Township Commissioners and my office with an interest in developing a data center on a 600-acre site between the Mt. Vernon and Buena Vista neighborhoods in Elizabeth Township, referred to as the “Fiore” property. The property is a brownfield and former disposal site for U.S. Steel.

To date, no plans, building permit applications, nor variance applications have been filed with the township for the project. However, the township is hosting an informational town hall meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Elizabeth Forward Middle School Auditorium to discuss the topic. As a resident of Mt. Vernon and native of Buena Vista, I am concerned about the possibility of noise, utility rate hikes and environmental impacts. While I will be attending the town hall meeting with an open mind, my position will ultimately be the same as my neighbors and the majority of township residents, as I am their representative.

In Harrisburg, the House recently passed House Bill 2496, allowing municipalities an 180-day pause on data-center applications to update zoning. I supported the 180-day pause because it gives township commissioners the ability to update zoning ordinances and enact protections for township residents. It has been questioned why the project would be proposed next to my family’s hunting property on Henderson Road. Our land is not included in the project and is absolutely not for sale.

This past Saturday, my staff and I had the pleasure of hosting a table at Elizabeth Township’s annual Fall Festival. The event was a wonderful celebration of our community, and it was great to see so many residents come together to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Families spent the day playing games, visiting local vendors and sampling treats from the food trucks, while live entertainment added energy and excitement throughout the day. We truly appreciated the opportunity to connect with community members, answer questions and share in the fun.

This past weekend, Natalie and I attended Greenock Log House Day with the Elizabeth Township Historical Society and the Apple Fest at Greenock United Methodist Church.

Natalie enjoyed having her face painted all the delicious apple-related foods.

If you haven’t attended before, I strongly encourage you to check it out next year. It’s always a fall favorite.

Recently, I participated in South Park Township’s annual Community Day. My family enjoyed bringing our 1967 Pontiac GTO to the parade.

It was a great day filled with activities, entertainment, food and games.

This year’s theme was Shipwrecked.
