⚠️UPDATED Severe Weather Forecast Update for Wednesday Night through Early Thursday Morning as of 1:55pm Tuesday:

🚨Level 3 of 5 Risk is now in the forecast for locations roughly along the I-20/59 corridor. The Enhanced Risk was included for an increased chance for tornadoes, along with large hail and damaging winds. A level 1 to 2 out of 5 risk remains elsewhere across Central Alabama.

OVERNIGHT EVENT: We're expecting the chance for severe storms to begin as early as 6pm, with multiple rounds of storms moving from west to east through the overnight hours as a cold front slowly moves south across the area. Have your severe weather plan ready, and have multiple ways to recieve warnings - most importantly have something that can wake you up such as a NOAA Weather Radio, smartphone app, and make sure Wireless Emergency Alerts are ON. We'll keep you updated with the latest!

Reach out and see how you can help Ms. Lilly.

Lilly loves shopping — especially when it’s for a great cause! She’s getting closer to filling her very first Brave Buddy Box with new toys and stuffed animals to help bring comfort and smiles to kids during difficult moments.

Chilton County residents that commute, be cautious during your travels tomorrow morning. Temps will not be above freezing until midday so we have a strong possibility of Black Ice on our roadways. Allow extra time, and drive safely.

Forecast are still developing for this weekend, keep an eye on the weather, and be prepared.

Jan 20 PM update: Due to the potential for power outages, with a frigid air mass coming in behind the system (low temperatures in the single digits and teens), it is very important that you plan ahead. Have alternative sources of heat for you and your pets!

🆕Parts of Central Alabama are poised to be affected by a mixture of cold rain, ice/freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Based on the current forecast, many locations will fluctuate between precipitation types throughout the event while other locations, such as north of the Interstate 20 corridor, may develop a more persistent wintry mix. We continue to make an effort to detail precipitation types and impact levels for Central Alabama. We hope to refine these details, and show them to you graphically, in the not-too-distant future. Until then, the graphic below gives a general idea of what to anticipate.

Be aware.

Be aware.

***THIS POST IS NO LONGER VALID***

Strong to severe storms will continue through the area today through roughly 3 PM. The greatest threats include damaging winds up to 60 mph and isolated, brief tornadoes. The storms are moving quickly, so storm speed, combined with wind produced within the storm, over areas that have already received high rainfall totals, may cause a few trees down outside of any warning. Stay aware of the weather through the morning!
