The United Way family is devastated by the news of Dolly Parton’s passing. Dolly was a superstar in every sense of the word—on the stage, screen, and the airwaves. But the only thing larger than her voice was her deeply generous spirit, which she used to bring people together all around the world.

For more than 15 years, United Way has proudly partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide children with books and foster a love of learning. Through this work, we saw firsthand, Dolly’s deep belief that every child – no matter the circumstances – deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and thrive. Today, the inspirational program spans five countries, and has provided more than 300 million books to children around the world.

United Way will be forever grateful for Dolly’s partnership, friendship, and shared belief in making the world a better place. The world will miss Dolly. But her larger-than-life legacy will live on every time her irresistible voice comes on the radio, every time we see her bright smile flash across our screens, and every time a child picks up an Imagination Library book.

On behalf of the entire United Way network, we extend our deepest condolences to Dolly’s family, friends, and the millions of people she touched. We are profoundly grateful for her partnership and friendship and the United Way family will be honored to help carry forward the spirit of generosity she embodied.

Thank you to the Fedewa Insurance Group - Farm Bureau and the Agent Charitable Fund - Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan for this generous donation to support our weekend backpack fundraiser. This fundraiser supported our 5 local schools, helping ensure that local kids have food and other items that they need over the weekend. Support like this makes these critical efforts possible!

United is the way!!

We nominated and were honored to present a $2,000 Agent Charitable Fund - Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan grant to United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties today! Funds will be used to purchase nutritious, non-perishable food for the Weekend Backpack Program, which supports students in the Beaverton, Gladwin, Clare, Farwell and Harrison school districts. 😊

United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties would like to thank Helping Hands Mission in Beaverton for their caring and supportive donation to our weekend backpack fundraiser. With their support, we were able to provide the weekend backpack programs at EACH of the 5 local schools in Gladwin and Clare County with a check for $7,059.34!!! These checks will help ensure that when kids leave school on Friday they'll have food over the weekend.

Helping Hands Mission, which was established in 1992, and United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties have a rich history of partnership and we know that when caring folks work in a UNITED manner, it uplifts the entire community!

Thank you to the Beaverton Lions Club for their generous donation to our weekend backpack fundraiser. Their dedicated and caring support has been a cornerstone for the wellbeing of the community since 1944. Without the support of local organizations like this, we would not be able to make the positive impact that we do in Gladwin County. Working UNITED in partnership to serve and support is the way to a better tomorrow.

On this Sunday morning, we're thankful for giving community members who care and uplift those in need. On Saturday, the Dale United Methodist Church held another pop-up food pantry in the Beaverton Schools parking lot. Their caring support helped ease the worries of 161 families - nearly 500 people! This is what community, kindness and partnership looks like. Their next pop-up will be held in October. Working UNITED, they are making a difference!!!

Current cooling locations in Gladwin County are:

Sacred Heart Mission for Gladwin County MI - available during regular business hours.

Gladwin Fire Hall, on Cedar Avenue next to Pizza Hut. Open until 10 p.m.

• Gladwin County Library, 402 James Robertson Drive. Open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Gladwin County District Library and Beaverton Branch Library

• Beaverton Library, 128 Saginaw St. Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Clare County Mobile Food Distribution is TODAY at the Clare County Transit Building.

If you have some time this morning, and can lend a hand, volunteers are always needed and appreciated. It takes many hands to make this all work.
When we work UNITED, we bring about positive change!
Thanks to Clare County Food, Greater Lansing Food Bank, Mid Michigan Community Action and so many others for making this happen every month.

The Clare County Mobile Food Distribution will be held April 11th at the Clare County Transit Building.

🔔 Reminder: Due to the Easter holiday, the distribution will be held on the SECOND Saturday in April.

🔔 Important Reminders:
• Limit of 4 families per vehicle
• No pets allowed (service animals are permitted)
• Double line-up on Transportation Drive and follow directions from officers
• Please do NOT arrive before 7:00 AM
