What a meaningful day of community, conversation and history.

Thank you to LA County Library for including The Claremont Colleges Library in this past weekend's event featuring George Takei and his graphic memoir, They Called Us Enemy.

We appreciated the opportunity to share materials from our Japanese American incarceration collections and engage attendees in conversations about this important chapter of American history.

today is World Dracula Day? 🧛🦇

Bram Stoker’s was first published on May 26, 1897 — 129 years ago today.

To celebrate, we’re spotlighting two wonderfully items from our Special Collections: a historic stage manager’s copy of the first authorized stage adaptation of Dracula by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston (photos 1-3), and Edward Gorey’s delightfully eerie Dracula: A Toy Theatre (photos 4-7). 📚

These items are available for hands-on research through a Reading Room appointment!

In honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, our Asian Library and Special Collections staff are hosting an hour-long guided tour that covers the following two exhibits:

📜 Scattered Leaves: East Asian Rare Books Across Borders, Regions and Cultures
🎞️ "They Called Us Enemy": Japanese American Incarceration During WWII

This guided tour will take place every Friday in May 2026 from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
