CLAREMONT, N.C. โ The City of Claremont is proud to celebrate Prysmianโs historic $1 billion investment in its Claremont facility, which will bring approximately 900,000 square feet of new manufacturing and research space and hundreds of new jobs to the community.
The expansion will include a new glass factory, expanded fiber optic cable manufacturing operations and new research and development facilities. Prysmian plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony in Claremont in mid-September.
Mayor Shawn R. Brown highlighted the significance of the investment for Claremont and its residents.
โAn investment of this magnitude is genuinely transformational for a community like Claremont. When a company of Prysmian's stature commits to creating hundreds of new jobs and investing more than a billion dollars right here, it changes what is possible for our residents, our families, and our future.โ
As a lifelong Claremont resident, Mayor Brown has witnessed the growth of the fiber optic and telecommunications industry firsthand.

A joint public hearing of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners and Claremont City Council regarding local incentives associated with the expansion will be held Tuesday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hickory Metro Convention Center.
