Our Director of Maintenance Doug Presley took this photo of the Rogers County Courthouse after adding green lights.

The lights represent an initiative that began five years ago to acknowledge and support our veterans and their families.

We have joined counties across the United States and welcome you to participate by changing an interior or exterior lightbulb to green. To share your photo, use hashtags:

“Thank you” to our veterans and their families.

How can you join us?

You can participate in Operation Green Light, a tribute to veterans to let them know we support them, by lighting a green bulb at your home or business during the week of Veterans Day.

This initiative was created by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO).

In its fifth year, the Rogers County Board of County Commissioners approved this Proclamation during Monday’s regular board meeting.

You are invited to share a picture of your green lit area here or on your own page using

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT OKLAHOMA’S NEW HANDS-FREE RULE

The law is part of House Bill 2263, which is expected to be enforced starting November 1, 2025, and expands Oklahoma’s distracted driving restrictions to include school zones and active construction/work zones.

Under the new rule, you can no longer hold your phone (for calls, texts, browsing, etc.) while driving through those areas.

This new law builds on Oklahoma’s current texting ban and aims to reduce distracted driving in high-risk areas. You’ll still be able to use hands-free tech (Bluetooth, voice commands, CarPlay, etc.), but no more holding your phone through those zones.
