ROGERS COUNTY BURN BAN UPDATE

The Rogers County countywide burn ban has expired.

During this morning’s regular meeting of the Rogers County Board of County Commissioners, the Board agreed to allow the burn ban to expire without extension, following input from area fire departments, which voted 6-5 in favor of allowing the ban to expire.

Please be advised that the expiration of the burn ban does not mean the fire danger has passed. Extreme drought conditions remain across our area, and conditions have continued to worsen in some locations.

If you choose to burn, please use extreme caution and take appropriate safety precautions:

Monitor weather and wind conditions closely.
Have a fire safety plan in place before burning.
Keep water and other fire suppression equipment readily available.
Never leave a fire unattended.

County officials and area fire departments will continue to monitor drought and fire conditions. Should conditions worsen or present an increased threat to public safety, the need for a countywide burn ban will be revisited and announcements will be made to the local news, social media, and website banner at www.rogerscounty.org.

Please burn responsibly. Your safety and the safety of firefighters, property, and communities depend on it.
