In the spring of 1878, a charismatic Methodist minister led a group of colonists to a junction on the Salt Fork of the Red River in the Texas Panhandle. They set out to create a utopia where sin and vice would be unknown, and the virtues of temperance and education would reign forever. The town was named Clarendon, but less genteel neighbors took to calling it something else - Saints' Roost. And w

hile we may not be as saintly as we once were, our founder's influence is still keenly felt. Clarendon is the home of authentic cowboys, skilled craftsmen, family activities, and opportunities for outdoorsmen and those wanting to just get away from it all. We invite you to come visit us, meet our citizens, experience the small town life, breathe our fresh air, and soak in the natural beauty that Donley County and the Rolling Plains have to offer. You'll be glad you did.
