Brokaw FFA members Noah Wellhausen, Haidyn Garrett, Alayna Shepherd, Elaina Hesse, and Owen Wright spent the majority of this week in El Reno, Oklahoma, just outside of Oklahoma City, preparing for and competing in the National Land & Range Judging Competition that was held on Thursday, May 7. The team spent Wednesday practicing for the contest, visited the Oklahoma City Memorial Site and Museum, and attended an awards banquet after the competition. The team placed 25th out of 102 total teams from around the country. Congratulations Brokaw FFA Soils Team!

The Brokaw FFA Chapter would like to recognize some groups of individuals who achieved some outstanding milestones at last week's Iowa State FFA Leadership Conference.

Three-Time LDE State Place-Winners (Top 3 in the State): Aidan Johnson, Morgan Manes, Lexi Clark, Haidyn Garrett, Owen Wright
Four-Time LDE State Place-Winners (Top 3 in the State): Taylor Rasmussen, Maggie Carlson
Four-Time LDE State Qualifiers: Elaina Hesse, Bella Johnson, Haidyn Garrett, Taylor Rasmussen, Morgan Manes, Aidan Johnson, Owen Wright, Maggie Carlson
Five-Time LDE State Qualifiers: Lexi Clark, Stevie Wilmes, Rylee Pulliam

These are rare accomplishments for FFA members to attain in Leadership Development Event competitions. All of these members have worked hard to achieve these milestones. Congratulations to all of these Brokaw FFA members!

It was another day of much success for the Brokaw FFA Chapter at the 98th Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference! 14 members competed in 6 Career Development Events for our chapter. Results from the day:

🥇Spanish Creed - Gold, State Champion, National Qualifier (Maite Zaranton-Perez)

🏅Farm Business Management - Gold 9th Place (Gabby Derry, Lexi Clark, Owen Wright, Alayna Shepherd)

🏅Discovery Quiz - Results to come (Pearyle Dow, Isla Comer)

🏅Greenhand Quiz - Results to come (Adrianna Payne, Sydney Sperry)

🏅Chaper Quiz - Results to come (Ellie Carter, Kelsey Stephens)

🏅Poultry Evaluation- Bronze (Sophia Cavin, Levi Haffner, Skylar Cornett)

We had 3 members recognized for their SAE's through proficiency awards. Rylee Pulliam (Vegetable Production- State Runner-Up), Lexi Clark (Ag Services- State Runner-Up), and Morgan Manes (Nursery Operations- State Champion).

9 members received their Iowa FFA Degree, which is the highest degree at the state level. Those members were Alisha Buttercase, Noah Wellhausen, Elaina Hesse, Alayna Shepherd, Taylor Rasmussen, Sydney Hanson, Stevie Wilmes, Owen Wright, and Haidyn Garrett.

The Soils Evaluation team who earned state champion last October were recognized on stage. Team members include: Noah Wellhausen, Elaina Hesse, Haidyn Garrett, Alayna Shepherd, and Owen Wright.

Addi Dow and Morgan Manes served as voting delegates at the business session.

In addition to the CDE awards handed out this evening, our chapter was recognized as a silver national chapter.

In addition to the LDE awards handed out this evening, Lexi Clark was recognized as the State Runner-Up in the Ag Services Proficiency Award area and also participated in a signing day event with NWMSU recognizing those high school FFA members planning to become Ag teachers. Eight of our members participated in the Meals from the Heartland service project. Mrs. Henry also received the Honorary FFA Degree at tonight's session as well. More results coming for tomorrow's activities!

It was a day to remember for many of our FFA members along with our FFA advisors. Countless hours before and after school preparing and practicing paid off for many of our members today!
