Cell phone just brought into the PD. Found in middle of Central Ave. W between Brothers and Yesway. It's been run over but still works! If it's yours you'll need to provide code to unlock. The PD office is open until 4pm today.

3. Date limitations. A person shall not use or explode first class consumer fireworks on days other than:
A. The Friday before July 4 through the Sunday following July 4

BE A SAFE RIDER! 🚲🛴🚲🛴

While out on patrol we have seen an increase in bike and scooter riders not obeying traffic signs. We have also received many complaints out of concern for kids safety.

🛑🛑You should never ride through a stop sign! When approaching a stop sign please come to a full stop and look both ways before going through the intersection. If you are riding out of a driveway, look for cars in both directions before proceeding into the street! If you have a helmet, wear it. Wearing earbuds is a distraction and prevents you from hearing vehicles approaching you. Avoid these and cell phone use when riding and focus on the road.🛑🛑

Officers have spoken to some riders they have seen riding in an unsafe manner. 😢But they will also let you know when they see you riding safely! 😁

We want you to have fun out on your bikes and scooters this summer but please do it safely! 🌞Parents and caregivers, talk to your young riders about traffic safety to help prevent accidents!

The Belmond Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a Missing Juvenile:
Zoey Cother was last seen in Belmond before bed on April 28, 2026.
Zoey is a white, 15 year old female, approximately 5 7, 110 lbs.
Zoey is believed to be in the Spencer, Iowa area.

Law enforcement officers have received numerous complaints lately regarding non-licensed drivers operating golf carts on city streets. There are guidelines on where golf carts can be driven and who may drive them. Ordinance 78 in the City of Clarion Code of Ordinances includes the following:

78.03 OPERATION LIMITATIONS. Golf carts may be used on public streets of the City between sunup and sundown, but may not be operated on Main Street, County Road 38 [2nd Street NW/SW], or State HWY 3 [Central Avenue E/W], except to cross same.

78.04 DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED. No golf carts shall be operated in permitted areas by anyone who does not have a valid driver's license as defined in Chapter 321 of the Code of Iowa (www.legis.iowa.gov).

78.05 SAFETY REQUIREMENTS. All golf carts within the meaning of this chapter shall display a slow-moving vehicle emblem on the rear of said golf carts and have a red bicycle safety flag on said golf carts and additionally said golf carts must have adequate brakes.
