Who thought winter was over? 🙋
Welp, mother nature is showing us that she still controls our happiness. BOO!

This system sounds like it's going to be messy and create some interesting driving conditions. From snow to rain then to ice, please remember your winter weather driving skills.
✔️ Slow down - Allow yourself plenty of time to get to your destination
✔️ Increase your following distance - Give the vehicle in front of you and yourself plenty of space
✔️ Use your headlights - Use of headlights in winter weather can help let other drivers know you are there
✔️ Don't use cruise control
✔️ Wear your seat belt
✔️ Monitor road conditions at sd511.org

Along with these tips make sure your vehicle has a full tank of gas, your phone is charged and you have the appropriate winter weather clothing in your vehicle.

As of 1:00 pm March 15th, 2026 the Clark County Sheriff's Office is CANCELLING the NO TRAVEL ADVISED. That is not to say roads are perfect. Winds are still causing blowing snow over roadways and some drifting in areas. Wind gust of 50 mph could change conditions quickly.

We ask that you use caution if you have to travel
- Reduce speeds
- Increase your following distance
- Allow yourself plenty of time for travel
- Turn on your headlights
- Remove snow from the vehicle before travelling
- Do not use cruise control

The NO TRAVEL ADVISED is still in place as crews work to clean up city streets and highways. With the blowing snow visibility continues to be less than ideal. Winds look to increase slightly as the day continues, which will impact visibility even more. The possibility of more snow accumulation as we continue throughout the day also plays a role in the decision to keep the NO TRAVEL ADVISED in place. The advisory will continue to be evaluated as the day goes on.

***SPREAD THE WORD***
Notice has been given that the interstate from Watertown to the North Dakota is going to be closing at 9pm March 14th, 2026. Clark county will be following suit and posting a NO TRAVEL ADVISED for all of Clark County starting at 9pm March 14th 2026.

Our hope by posting this now is to give everyone a chance to get where they're going before things get worse. Conditions will deteriorate as the evening goes on and we want everyone to be safe, responders included.
