Crypto currency kiosks are becoming an increasingly popular tool used by scammers and fraudsters to prey on unsuspecting victims β often seniors and vulnerable community members. These machines make it easy for criminals to collect money quickly and anonymously, leaving victims with little to no recourse.
SB98 is a step in the right direction to put guardrails in place and protect South Dakotans from these devastating scams.
A huge thank you to Sen. Kolbeck and Sen. Wiesgram for bringing this important bill forward β your leadership on this issue means so much. And thank you to AARP South Dakota for their continued advocacy in protecting our communities from fraud.
Law Enforcement sees firsthand the devastating impact these victims are put through after being exploited. Keep in mind the numbers reported are far under estimated.
