On Sunday we celebrated both lakes "birthdays." Steamboat Lake was dedicated and officially opened on 8/18/1968. Pearl Lake was dedicated in 1964 and is named after Pearl Hartt, whose birthday would have been 7/29.

Help us celebrate and tell us about any good memories, family adventures, or something special you remember about Pearl and Steamboat.

Marina Fire Update 8/12/26:

The Marina Fire started the evening of 8/11. It currently sits at 3 acres with no containment currently reported. The fire cause is still undetermined, however, lighting seems to be the cause. The fire is located between Diamond Peak and Ni**le Peak in North Routt.

The North Routt Fire Protection District, Steamboat Lake staff, Routt County Communications, Northern Colorado Dispatch, and the U.S. Forest Service were all quick to respond.

We are very thankful for all the hard work that has gone into keeping us all safe.

Please note that due to firefighting operations some areas of the lake may be closed in the next few days. We will continue to post updates to keep everyone informed if this happens. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at 970-879-3922.

CONGRATULATIONS! to Jay Fetcher for his recognition as one of Colorado's 150 Most Notable People.

The Fetcher family has ranched in North Routt, since 1949. Jay has been instrumental in the preservation and conservation of agricultural lands throughout the state.

Working closely with our partners at North Routt Fire Protection District and Routt County Sheriff's Office, we have made the decision to cancel this year's Fourth of July fireworks display due to severe drought conditions.

Although there has been some recent moisture, it hasn't improved the situation enough to proceed with the fireworks. The cancellation was necessary for safety reasons, as the drought conditions mean even a small spark could start a wildfire.

We recognize all of the efforts put into planning this fireworks display, and we look forward to working with local agencies, the community and fundraisers to shift our planning efforts to next year when we hope to have more favorable conditions.

CPW encourages those who planned to celebrate at Steamboat Lake to keep their plans, but wanted to share this information early for anyone who may need to adjust their celebrations.
