This morning a few of our members attended James Cole Elementary School’s fire drill. This was a great opportunity to train with the school and Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office. This provided us the ability to know where the students will be and what their plan is for evacuation. This opportunity provided valuable information for our Department which helps us be better prepared.

Thank you to Beth Frazier, School Resource Officer, and the Clarks Hill-Lauramie Township Fire Department for overseeing our safety drills this morning. We appreciate your partnership.

This afternoon just after 1pm our Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Olive Lane. First arriving units confirmed a working fire and began an aggressive interior attack keeping the fire contained to the second floor. Thankfully nobody was home at the time of the incident, however several pets did perish in the fire. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they work through this tragedy. We would like to thank Wea Township Fire Department, Randolph Township Fire Department, and Tippecanoe County Emergency Management for their assistance.

It's with great sadness that we share the passing of Linda Winger, a longtime supporter of our fire department. Linda created the Operation Heroes Car show back in 2012 in memory of her husband, Rich Winger, and donated all proceeds to our department. For the next 12 years, Linda was the backbone of the annual car show, putting in countless hours gathering donations and often hand-making gifts and awards for our members. She did all of this without ever asking for any help from us. She was such a wonderful lady and will be forever missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
