The Members and Officers of Dive Rescue Specialists want to express our thoughts and prayers to Everyone that was involved in the incident in Susquehanna County.

PSP identifies shooter killed who ambushed two state troopers Thursday morning on Rt. 171 in Thompson Twp. as 61-year-old Carmine Faino. They say Faino killed 57-year-old neighbor Lori Wasko before Troopers Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins from the PSP Gibson barracks arrived on scene to a report of shots fired. Tpr. Perechinsky was shot twice in the chest while Tpr. Jenkins was shot twice in the arms. Tpr. Perechinsky is hospitalized at Geisinger CMC Scranton while Tpr. Jenkins is at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Plains Township. Both are listed in “stable” condition. Faino was armed with a rifle and fired from “a very good distance” on the troopers. Tpr. Perechinsky is credited with applying tourniquets to Tpr. Jenkins wounds and helping save his life. PSP say Faino, who was armed with a rifle, was shot and killed by SERT team after he refused to comply with commands. EMT Jay Larson from Barnes Kasson Hospital also came under fire from Faino and crashed while taking evasive measures. He is hospitalized in “stable” condition.

On July 18, members of the Dive Team installed a plaque on the Fire Truck at Lake Hydra, in memory of Jason Petch, who passed away this past spring. The Fire Truck, and the Bass that gather there, were a favorite of Jason's. Many thanks to Ken Kraft, from Lake Hydra, for welcoming us and Jason's Family to Hydra for this event.
