⚠️ Resident Notice – Johnson/Kline Road Area

Boardwalk Pipelines will be performing construction work in the area of Johnson Road and Kline Road.

During the course of this work, residents may see flames that can reach many feet vertically. These flames may be visible for approximately 8–15 hours.

Please do not be alarmed. The flames are a normal part of the construction process and are expected during this work.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this work is being completed. Please share this notice with neighbors who may be in the area.

IT’S OFFICIAL!

The Coahoma County Jail is officially ACA Accredited!

Following the successful completion of our accreditation process, Chief Marena Jones and Warden Deon Elmore recently attended the 156th Congress of Correction ACA Conference in Pennsylvania, where they proudly received the official certificate of accreditation on behalf of the Coahoma County Jail.

We are incredibly proud to officially add ACA Accreditation to the Coahoma County Jail’s accomplishments and grateful to everyone who played a role in making this achievement possible.

Congratulations to the entire Coahoma County Jail team! 👏🏽🇺🇸

Employee of the Month – July

Please join us in congratulating Juanita Jones on being selected as our July Employee of the Month!

Ms. Jones has been a valued member of the Sheriff’s Office since November 2016, beginning her service as a custodian. Since then, she has served in several roles, including at the County Detention Facility, and currently as the front office receptionist at the Justice Complex.

She is friendly, knowledgeable, dependable, and always willing to learn and lend a helping hand wherever she is needed. Her dedication, positive attitude, and willingness to step up make her a true asset to the Sheriff’s Office.

We all know community outreach and education has never been more important than it is currently here at Coahoma County Sheriff's Office. We operate with the highest degree of honesty, professionalism, and integrity in all that we do with each other, with our community, and with our fellow law enforcement agencies.

Steve Wallace with LAW Publications, will be in our community going from business to business to get sponsorships for our community safety program.

This program gets awareness information and material into the hands of school aged children and senior citizens to warn them of many different risks and dangers involved with drugs and also keep them informed on various other important safety topics.

The Coahoma County Sheriff's Office would like to invite you to join us Tuesday, September 1st for the 42nd Annual National Night Out, America's Night Out Against Crime. This event is held each year as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, law enforcement partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie, and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and are ready to fight back.

Coahoma County Sheriff's Office Homicide Investigation
The Coahoma County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. in the Land Acres area.

At approximately 10:19 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of Walker Drive and Perry Drive in reference to reports of multiple gunshots and a residence being struck by gunfire. While deputies were en route to Walker Drive, they received a second call regarding a Black male who had arrived at the Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center Emergency Department suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies responded to both locations.

Upon arriving at the residence on Walker Drive, deputies learned that the homeowner had heard multiple gunshots that appeared to have been fired from an automatic-style weapon. The resident reported that two projectiles entered his son's bedroom and another projectile penetrated the roof of the residence.
As deputies canvassed the area, they located multiple shell casings in the driveway of 204 Perry Drive. The shell casings were collected as evidence, and several persons of interest were detained for questioning.

At the hospital, deputies spoke with a male who initially stated that he and the victim, later identified as 23-year-old Tykedius Moore of Clarksdale, were traveling north on U.S. Highway 61 near Mullens-Williams Road when another vehicle pulled alongside them and opened fire. Moore was transported to the Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
However, as the investigation progressed, detectives determined that Moore was actually shot during an exchange of gunfire on Perry Drive.

This case is being actively investigated by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) and the Coahoma County Sheriff's Office. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
