Clarkston Firefighters are finishing up our annual Rope Rescue Refresher training this week.

This training includes both basic and advanced rope operations, as well as high-angle and low-angle rescue scenarios. Regular training helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to safely and effectively respond to technical rescue incidents in our community.

We’d like to thank TriState Health for allowing us to utilize space on their property for this valuable training opportunity. We appreciate their continued support of Clarkston Firefighters and the community we serve.

Clarkston firefighters had an extremely busy night alongside our neighboring agencies across the LC Valley. In addition to handling multiple medical calls within the City of Clarkston, our firefighters responded on auto aid to two separate structure fires in both Asotin and Lewiston.

Despite operating at minimum staffing of just 3 firefighters, Clarkston crews were still able to provide critical fire suppression efforts and support our regional partners during these incidents.

Last night highlighted just how important auto aid agreements and strong working relationships between agencies across the valley truly are. When multiple emergencies happen at the same time, these partnerships ensure communities continue receiving the emergency services they depend on.

We’d like to thank all of our neighboring agencies for their teamwork and continued commitment to protecting the LC Valley.

May is Wildfire Preparedness Month. As temperatures begin to rise and vegetation continues to dry out, your Clarkston firefighters are preparing for the upcoming wildfire season by completing annual Wildland Fire Refresher Training (RT-130), Pack Tests, and other readiness activities.

Clarkston firefighters have a long history of working closely with our neighboring agencies to provide a strong, coordinated response to wildland fires throughout our region. We have also proudly supported state mobilization efforts across Eastern Washington during large-scale wildfire incidents.

Preparation, training, and partnerships are critical to protecting our communities during wildfire season. Stay prepared, stay informed, and help do your part to reduce wildfire risk this summer.

Clarkston firefighters had the opportunity this week to participate in a Confined Space Operations and Technician course hosted by the Clearwater Paper Fire Department.

This training provided valuable, hands-on experience in rescuing patients from complex and hard-to-reach environments. With the amount of industrial presence in Clarkston and across the LC Valley, it’s critical that our firefighters are prepared for these high-risk, low-frequency incidents.

In addition to training, Clarkston Firefighters have been working with administration to enhance our capabilities by purchasing confined space equipment and upgrading our rope rescue gear—all to better serve our community when these specialized emergencies occur.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to our instructors, Clearwater Paper Fire Department, and Clearwater Paper Corporation for making this training possible.
