📢 Important District Update: Future 6th Grade Transition to Lincoln Middle School

The Clarkston School District is excited to share that beginning with the 2027–28 school year, all 6th grade students will attend Lincoln Middle School as part of a true 6th–8th grade middle school model.

This change will not affect students during the upcoming 2026–27 school year. The additional year will allow us to thoughtfully plan, prepare, and support students and families throughout the transition process.

Moving 6th grade to Lincoln Middle School will provide students with access to specialized supports, expanded academic opportunities, extracurricular activities, athletics, leadership experiences, and a learning environment specifically designed to meet the needs of early adolescents.

We understand families may have questions. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document in the comments section for additional information. We will continue to share updates and opportunities for engagement as planning progresses.

6th Grade Outdoor School: Adventure, Leadership, and Learning

From May 4–8, all four of Clarkston's Elementary Schools' 6th-grade students traveled to Camp Reed on Fan Lake, north of Spokane, for an unforgettable week of outdoor education, leadership, and adventure.

A total of 225 participants attended the trip, including 160 sixth-grade students, 35 high school leaders, 21 staff members, and 9 volunteers. Throughout the week, students challenged themselves and connected with nature through activities such as the ropes course, canoeing, archery, and hiking.

Students also participated in a variety of hands-on environmental science classes, including Survival Skills, Biodiversity Scavenger Hunt, Water Quality Investigation, Botany Expedition, Life in the Forest, and Birding. These experiences encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.

The high school leaders played a major role in the success of the week. They set a positive tone, modeled leadership, and helped sixth-grade students fully engage in every activity and learning opportunity. Their energy, encouragement, and mentorship made a lasting impact on campers throughout the trip. “Watching our high school leaders step up and invest in the younger students was one of the best parts of camp,” said Tim Weber, Outdoor School Director. “They created an environment where sixth graders felt encouraged to try new things, build confidence, and truly connect with nature and each other. Kudos to Nathan Whittle, Spencer Empey, and Charles Chambers for the incredible work they did training and preparing our high school leaders for camp.”

Clarkston would also like to recognize several generous community partners whose support helped make the experience possible. Special thanks to the Setlow STEM Memorial Foundation, the Hughes Foundation, and Idaho Forest Group for their major partnership donations and continued investment in student learning opportunities.

This morning, a local private school in Lewiston received a phone threat reporting an active shooter. Nearby Lewiston schools were briefly placed in secure status out of an abundance of caution. The secure was lifted shortly thereafter, and law enforcement has confirmed the call was a swatting hoax.

Clarkston School District was made aware of the incident and there is no known threat to our schools. All schools continue normal operations.

This week, we get to celebrate the people who show up every single day for our kids.

Not for recognition. Not for applause.
But because they care.

Our teachers are the steady presence in a child’s life. The ones who notice when something feels off. The ones who stay late, come in early, and give more of themselves than anyone ever sees.

They are the calm in the chaos.
The encouragement when things feel hard.
The voice that says, “You can do this,” until a student finally believes it.

Long after lessons are forgotten, the way a teacher made a student feel stays with them forever.

To our teachers…
Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for your compassion.
Thank you for believing in every student, even on the hardest days.

You are changing lives in ways that cannot be measured. And our schools, our community, and our future are better because of you. ❤️
