Rooted in the River Valley

When most people think of libraries, they think of books. But the people behind our library desks know there's so much more to the story.

Every day, staff across our seven locations connect community members with technology, Wi-Fi, printing and scanning services, digital resources, lifelong learning opportunities, and much more.

This week, we'd like to recognize the people who make our libraries special. Their knowledge and commitment ensure our libraries remain valuable resources for communities across the River Valley.

Be sure to follow and connect with our branches:
πŸ“ Charleston Public Library in Charleston
πŸ“ Franklin County Library in Ozark
πŸ“ Johnson County Public Library in Clarksville
πŸ“ Logan County Public Library in Booneville
πŸ“ Boyd T. And Mollie Gattis Logan County Library in Paris
πŸ“ Yell County Library in Danville
πŸ“ Dardanelle - Yell County Library in Dardanelle

The books may bring people through the doors, but it's the people who help make the library a community resource. ❀️

🟩🟨Then & Now🟩🟨

In 2001, the Johnson County Public Library was already an important resource for our community, a place for books, learning, and connection. Over the past 25 years, it has continued to grow and evolve alongside the needs of Johnson County residents.

Today, the library is so much more than shelves of books. It serves as a community gathering place, technology resource, educational hub, and welcoming space for people of all ages. From children’s programs and summer reading activities to public computers, community events, and lifelong learning opportunities, the library continues to expand its impact across Johnson County.

The Johnson County Community Foundation is proud to have been part of that growth over the years by supporting projects and initiatives that help strengthen opportunities for learning, literacy, and community connection.

The story of the Johnson County Arkansas Public Library is a reminder of how communities grow stronger when organizations, volunteers, and local supporters work together to invest in the future.

We’ve also been getting lots of great questions, so here are some quick Summer Reading FAQs!

πŸ’‘ What ages is it for?
All are welcome, but our programs are primarily geared toward Pre-K through 6th grade.

πŸ’‘ My child can’t read yet. Does it count if I read to them?
Yes! We absolutely love it when parents and caregivers read with their children. Reading together counts too!

πŸ’‘ Is there a list of required books?
Nope! Children are encouraged to read anything that interests them.

πŸ’‘ Do audiobooks count?
Yes! Audiobooks absolutely count.

πŸ’‘ What if we can’t make it to allβ€”or anyβ€”of the programs?
You can still participate! Children are welcome to read and complete reading logs even if they can’t attend programs.

πŸ’‘ What if we can’t complete a reading log?
That’s okay! Any reading counts, and we’re just excited to encourage a love of reading.

πŸ’‘ What if we finish a reading log before the end of June?
Come grab another one and keep going!

We can’t wait to spend the summer reading, exploring, and unearthing stories with you! πŸ¦•πŸ“š

A big thank you to the Johnson County EMS for visiting us for story time today! πŸš‘πŸ“š One of the EMTs shared a story with us, and then the kids got an up-close look inside the ambulance to learn how all the equipment works.

We loved getting to learn about the important work our local EMS team does to help keep our community safe. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this exciting story time adventure!
