UPDATE: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued, with the tornado threat significantly diminished. The school will remain closed tonight.

The Clarkton Volunteer Fire Department is vigilantly monitoring the severe weather situation and will open the Clarkton High School Gymnasium if necessary. Further updates regarding the opening time will be updated here.Residents are urged to remain vigilant, ensure situational awareness, and have a contingency plan in place.

Severe winter weather is expected to impact Dunklin County, bringing the potential for snow, ice, hazardous road conditions, and dangerously cold temperatures.
