***STOLEN VEHICLE***

On July 26, 2026 between the hours of 3am-9am, a 2004 Maroon Chevrolet Avalanche similar to the one pictured was stolen from a residence in Claude, TX.

We have no confirmed direction of travel leaving the City of Claude. It is possible the license plates were removed to avoid LPR's (License Plate Readers) in the area. This vehicle does have a faded gray bed cover and "Z71" on the rear of the truck bed.

If you have any information (to include doorbell/security camera footage) that will help us locate this vehicle, please contact the Armstrong County Sheriff's Office at (806) 553-6933.

🎇 fireworks are permitted within the city limits today from 12pm-12am.

Please remember:

*fireworks may not be discharged from any county road or right-of-way
* fireworks must be set off on private property with owner’s permission
*be mindful of your neighbors; keep a safe distance from people, homes, livestock, and pets
*always keep a water source nearby in case of fire

04/13/26 @ 7:40pm ... Armstrong County Fire Department are on-scene with a structure fire on Hwy 287, south side (across from Lupita's).
No further details available at this time. Please be aware of this location.

Per TXDOT, please avoid the intersection of Hwy 207 and FM 1151 today, April 1st. Linemen will be working to change out the poles at this intersection. There will be workers present all day, and we would appreciate all citizens being aware of their presence. There will be signs and flaggers, but the intersection may be shut down intermittently for short periods while this work is completed.

The City of Claude recently made a post regarding the Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office and the enforcement of a city ordinance related to golf carts. In a public comment, it was stated that “they have our ordinances so we are hopeful things will change.”

As your Sheriff, I want to address this directly.

The Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office is always willing to work with the City of Claude and we will certainly do our best to remain diligent regarding the golf cart issue. The safety of our children and the public is important to all of us.

At the same time, our deputies respond daily to a wide range of calls and responsibilities across Armstrong County—many of which involve urgent situations that must take priority. Because of this, we also rely on our community to help by making good decisions and looking out for one another.

Parents and guardians play an important role in this. Allowing children under the age of 15 without a driver’s permit to operate golf carts within the city can create safety concerns for both the child and the public, especially with the increase in traffic during certain hours of the day. We ask that citizens help us by exercising good judgment and ensuring that golf carts are being operated responsibly and in accordance with the city ordinance.

Claude has always been a community where neighbors look out for each other. If we all do our part—law enforcement and citizens alike—we can keep our children safe while allowing our deputies to focus on the most serious issues facing our county.
