We have to recognize a special young man that walked into the Firefighter Class at Claxton High School a few years ago. At the time he had no interest in being a volunteer firefighter. This would certainly change about halfway through his sophomore year of high school. He realized I can do this and another Evans County Fire family member was born. He passed his Firefighter 1 state written exam and then State practical skills year 1. The next year we tackled the Hazmat Awareness class and He passed the skills and test. By senior year he was attending just about every fire meeting there was and started working on getting his fire truck drivers permit through the state. The dedication to community, work , and school shows the kind of character this young man is. He graduated Claxton High School and graduated OTC college all in his senior year. He also volunteered to go to Brantley County to assist with the wildfires. Dawson Monroe we are proud of you. Congratulations.
