Yesterday evening just before the Landfill fire Volunteers had a training exercise onsite at Farmers Furniture in Claxton. Pre fire preparation and planning go along way in outcomes of actual emergency calls. Everything from truck placement and hose deployments make a difference when quick response is needed. Great work by all involved and a fantastic After Action Review of the drill just before being called out to an all nighter Job !

Last night Evans County was dispatched to a large fire at the Evans County landfill. This fire was found right after a weather storm pushed through with sharp lightning. Mutual Aid call went out to Claxton Fire , Bryan County Fire , Pembroke Fire , Tattnall Fire, and Effingham Fire all responded with Water Tinders. Also Bulloch County Cafe brought a mobile air truck and cold water for responders to drink.
Water draft operation was established at the public fishing area and a water shuttle operation was started. Trucks moved water from approximately 9:15 till 2 am this morning spraying water on the landfill. Huge thank you for all Departments that sent units to help! Everyone here is very grateful you all came together to support us .

A storm passed through this weekend with a lot of lightning and seems to have started a fire way off the road back in the woods off of Highway 129 south near Bull Creek. a resident living in the area called Evans County Fire yesterday evening because they saw smoke after investigating. It was determined it was a lot of strike and today, George Forestry and Evans County Fire work to extinguish the fire..
