orchards. Claxton, the county seat, is best known as the fruitcake capital of the world. Evans County has a weekly paper, The Claxton Enterprise, two local radio stations, WCLA (1470 AM) and WMCD (107.3 FM), as well as its own hospital, Evans Memorial.
